Will Viktor Gyokeres or Alexander Isak be the top goalsco...
Griffin Wong · 2026-05-29 · via DraftKings Network

Griffin Wong breaks down the odds for Sweden’s top scorer during the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Last July, Viktor Gyökeres signed with Arsenal, which paid a transfer fee of some 55 million pounds to Sporting Lisbon for his services. Immediately, he became one of the most expensive Swedish transfers ever, but his status didn’t last long, as just a few months later, Alexander Isak moved from Newcastle United to Liverpool for 125 million pounds, the third-most expensive transfer ever.

Now, Gyökeres and Isak will lead the line for Sweden in the World Cup for the first time. Blågult don’t necessarily have high expectations after a rough qualification campaign, but their group (which also features the Netherlands, Japan, and Tunisia) is doable.

The last time Sweden qualified for the World Cup, Andreas Granqvist led the team with two goals, but Granqvist (and most of that 2018 squad) has since retired, so it’s time for a new man to claim the spotlight. Below, I’ll break down the DraftKings Sportsbook odds for Sweden’s leading goalscorer at the 2026 World Cup.

Sweden Top Goalscorer Odds

Viktor Gyökeres (+175)
Alexander Isak (+330)
Anthony Elanga (+1000)
Benjamin Nygren (+1200)
Alexander Bernhardsson (+1200)
Gustaf Nilsson (+1400)
Taha Abdi Ali (+1600)
Mattias Svanberg (+2000)
Besfort Zeneli (+2000)
Lucas Bergvall (+2500)
Yasin Ayari (+2500)
Ken Sema (+2500)
Jesper Karlstrom (+2500)
No Sweden Goalscorer (+3500)
Victor Lindelof (+5000)
Gabriel Gudmundsson (+5000)
Emil Holm (+5000)
Isak Hien (+6500)
Daniel Svensson (+6500)
Carl Starfelt (+6500)

Who will be Sweden’s leading goalscorer? Pick, best bet

Despite Isak’s higher transfer fee, Gyökeres was clearly the better player this past season. His debut Premier League season wasn’t perfect, but he still managed to record a team-leading 21 goals in all competitions for a Gunners team that won the title and advanced to the Champions League final. Isak, on the other hand, broke his leg in December and only managed four goals in 22 appearances across all competitions. Gyökeres has out-played Isak with Blågult as well; throughout the qualifier campaign, Gyökeres led the team with four goals in his six appearances, all of which came in the continental playoffs, when he was playing as the lone striker in Graham Potter’s 3-4-3. Perhaps not-so-coincidentally, they were also the only two games that Sweden won throughout the qualification campaign.

It’s unclear whether Potter will opt for a 3-4-3 in the World Cup or revert back to a 4-4-2 with Isak healthy, but given that Elanga and Nygren (the other two players on the roster who started at least one match up front in the qualification campaign) both have more experience playing on the wings and at attacking midfielder, Potter might be better-suited playing a lone-striker formation. In that case, Gyökeres should be the clear choice ahead of Isak, as though Isak managed as many total shots in far fewer minutes, Gyökeres was the far more clinical finisher. While Isak might revert towards his 2024-25 form, when he finished as the second-leading scorer in the Premier League, Gyökeres had an even more dominant season in a lesser league, getting his shots on target at a higher rate. Gyökeres is also likely to be Sweden’s penalty taker, as the last time a penalty was given in a match in which both of them played, Gyökeres took the penalty despite Isak’s needing it to complete his hat trick.

The Pick: Viktor Gyökeres (+175)
