Griffin Wong breaks down the lineups for today’s World Cup Group D game between the United States and Australia.
For the United States, the time is now; if the Stars and Stripes beat Australia at 3 p.m. ET (12 p.m. local) in Seattle and Paraguay draws with Turkey later, they are guaranteed to win Group D and secure qualification for the Round of 32. After arguably the most impressive display in the USMNT’s history in the opening match, this is one of the most pivotal games in the country’s history.
Both teams’ lineups are now set. Mauricio Pochettino has chosen the 11 men who will represent the Stars and Stripes today, with Christian Pulisic (calf) the biggest absence. Tony Popovich has done the same for the Socceroos.
The United States is a -155 favorite to take all three points at DraftKings Sportsbook, and Australia is +400. A draw is available at +320.
