Julian Edlow previews Thursday’s WNBA matchup between the Las Vegas Aces and Dallas Wings.
Thursday night presents a nice situational spot for a betting angle on the Las Vegas Aces against the Dallas Wings. Let’s breakdown the game below.
The Aces are off to a strange start this season. They lost their opening game at home by 33 points to the Mercury, but then went on the road and ripped off four straight wins. That streak started by winning with margin against the Sparks on the road for their first win of the season. When the Aces returned to Vegas to face the Sparks again, Los Angeles got its revenge. The Sparks won as eight-point road underdogs, behind 38 points from Kelsey Plum — a former star for the Aces.
Now Las Vegas heads back on the road, where they are a perfect 4-0. As I mentioned, their last road trip started after a home loss, and the Aces went on the beat the Sparks by 17 points. This sets up another strong spot to get the Aces’ best effort off a loss, and they catch the Wings in a spot they could let their guard down. Dallas is off a 15-point road win over a talented New York Liberty squad, so it returns home celebrating a big win.
Like Vegas, Dallas has been better on the road this season. The Wings not only have the win over the Liberty, but also beat the Sky and the Fever in the season opener. But the Wings have taken home losses to both Atlanta and Minnesota, and could be in line to drop another to a motivated Aces team, led by A’ja Wilson.
This line opened much too short, and I gave out the Aces at -120 on the moneyline on Tuesday’s DraftKings Network Daily Bets podcast. The market has since corrected itself, with Vegas growing as a favorite in the game. I’m happy to have a good number in pocket, but still feel the Aces are the right side of the game at the current price. As the blowout on the road against the Sparks suggests, Vegas should win this one with margin. Good situational spot to back the Aces on Thursday.
I’ll have another article on one of Friday’s WNBA games, but if you want to attempt to get the best of the number early, I gave out the play on Thursday’s episode of DraftKings Network Daily Bets.
