The NBA postseason rolls on this evening with an enticing two-game slate of Game 2’s. To get things started, the Cavaliers will look to steal one on the road vs. the top-seeded Pistons. Later, LeBron James’ Lakers are attempting to do the same against the defending champion Thunder. One thing is for certain: expect the intensity to be at an all-time high on Thursday.

Donovan Mitchell 26+ points (-110)

These playoffs have been a mixed bag for Donovan Mitchell, to put it mildly. Through nine postseason games, the guard is averaging 23.1 points, 4.8 rebounds and 2.9 assists. In addition, he’s shooting 44% from the field and 34% from three-point range. Those aren’t bad numbers by any means, but it’s a bit below the seven-time All-Star’s lofty standards. To make matters worse, he hasn’t recorded a 30-point outing since Game 2 against the Raptors. It’s safe to say that Cleveland’s chances of winning the Eastern Conference hinge on Spida playing like a superstar.

On Tuesday against the Pistons, Mitchell scored 23 points on nine-of-19 shooting (47% FG). That’s not too shabby against a quality defense, but the veteran is capable of even more on the court. He’s also had some notable success in this matchup, albeit during the regular season. Including the postseason, Mitchell has scored at least 30 points in three of his last four meetings with Detroit. At the end of the day, this is also a bit of a hunch. It’s just difficult to envision a scorer this good going under 26 points for seven straight playoff contests. Cleveland’s face of the franchise is due for a standout performance tonight.

LeBron James 7+ rebounds (-120)

During an otherwise disappointing Game 1 for the Lakers, LeBron James showed up. The King dropped 27 points on 71% shooting against a tenacious Oklahoma City defense. It’s been yet another marvelous postseason for the future Hall of Famer. Through seven games, he’s notched 23.7 points, 6.7 rebounds and 8.0 assists to go with 47/33/72 shooting splits. Luka Doncic (hamstring) is still sidelined, so there’s no reason to assume a dip in production for LBJ. With Austin Reaves playing poorly, Los Angeles has never been more dependent on Bron.

Granted, it’s not as if you can flip a switch and perform against the NBA’s best defense. With that being said, the Thunder do struggle at times to box out. Opponents are snagging 54.4 rebounds per game against Oklahoma City, tied for ninth-most in basketball. LeBron only managed to grab four rebounds in Game 1 vs. the defending champs. However, he snagged at least seven boards in four of six games against Houston in round one. I’m willing to bet the four-time MVP bounces back this evening on the glass.
