Hunter Skoczylas breaks down the opening odds for Hurricanes vs. Flyers in the second round of the 2026 Stanley Cup Playoffs.
The second-round matchups are starting to finalize, with the Hurricanes vs. Flyers series set to begin on Saturday, May 2, at 8:00 p.m. ET. Carolina took care of business in the first round, sweeping Ottawa in four games, while Philadelphia topped Pittsburgh in six games.
Let’s take a look at the opening odds on DraftKings Sportsbook for this second-round series between the Hurricanes and Flyers.

Looking at the odds, the Hurricanes are rather massive -330 favorites to win the series and advance to the Eastern Conference Finals. The Flyers hold +260 odds of completing the upset. The odds make sense considering this Hurricanes team has made it to the postseason in eight straight seasons, with three Conference Finals appearances mixed in there.
This young and exciting Flyers team jumped out to an early 3-0 series lead in the first round against the Penguins, but dropped Games 4 and 5, mainly due to the lack of playoff experience. Philadelphia broke a five-year postseason drought and is playing meaningful hockey in April and May for the first time since the 2019-20 season. Still, this team is filled with fun players and great goaltending, and anything can happen in the playoffs.
Looking even further at futures odds on DraftKings Sportsbook, Carolina is the clear favorite to win the Eastern Conference at +105 odds, while Philadelphia is currently tied with Tampa Bay at +800, which are the second-worst odds. It is going to be a tough hill to climb for the Flyers, but they’ve shown they can outlast a playoff-experienced Penguins team and may test the Hurricanes much more than the Senators did in the first round.
