WhatsApp working to bring Liquid Glass to its Mac app

After rolling out its Liquid Glass redesign more broadly to iOS users last month, Meta is now moving to take the revamped look to its Mac app. Here are the details.

WhatsApp for Mac could soon get the Liquid Glass revamp

It would be an understatement to say that WhatsApp’s rollout of the Liquid Glass look has been slow.

After rolling out a small-scale test to iOS users in October, the app finally started a broader rollout last month.

Even so, many users still say they don’t have access to the new look, which includes Liquid Glass elements across the app’s top and bottom navigation bars, as well as the iOS 26 keyboard.

As it works to expand Liquid Glass to more parts of WhatsApp for iOS, including the voice message player and message reactions menu, the company has begun the work to bring the new look to WhatsApp for Mac, as spotted by WABetaInfo.

According to the report, the feature is currently under development, which means it is not even available to beta testers yet. However, WABetaInfo was able to activate the Liquid Glass interface (as well as macOS 26 elements), as seen below:

That includes a redesigned sidebar with text labels beside each icon, an updated chat bar, a refreshed attachment menu, and a dedicated locked chats section.

As WABetaInfo notes, iPad users should also expect to see the Liquid Glass look at some point:

“In a future update, WhatsApp will finally align this design foundation on iPhone, iPad, and Mac. This means that the interface on iPad and Mac will be brought closer in style to the updated design on iPhone. With this update, WhatsApp will offer a more consistent experience with Liquid Glass regardless of the device being used. So users will finally notice a more unified look on iOS, iPadOS, and macOS. Even the chat bar, context menu, and buttons will follow the same design language.”

This news comes after Threads users also reported getting access to a Liquid Glass-looking bottom navigation bar and the iOS 26 keyboard over the weekend, so it could be the case that Meta may finally be preparing to speed up the rollout across its apps.
