The collaboration between OpenCloud and real-cis is aimed precisely at this target group and supplements platform operation with an infrastructural component that technically anchors trust. real-cis GmbH develops IT infrastructure for digital sovereignty. Under the BetterEdge brand, it offers highly secure, easy-to-manage encrypted virtual machines based on confidential computing.

Confidential computing not only protects data "at rest" or during transmission, but also during processing in the execution environment. This strengthens the integrity of the platform and increases the operational security of software and SaaS. In addition, a cryptographic perimeter seal physically protects the hardware. If the housing or the environment of the system is opened or modified without authorisation, this can be detected and documented.

This creates a technical anchor of trust: a basis that makes integrity verifiable and secures sovereignty requirements where it is particularly relevant, such as in public institutions, research, KRITIS-related environments or regulated industries.

The partnership combines OpenCloud as an open source platform for file management and collaboration with the infrastructure approach of real-cis, which strengthens protection and integrity at the execution environment and hardware level. This provides organisations with a setup that can be integrated into existing IT landscapes and at the same time secures central sovereignty requirements: control, transparency and a resilient technical foundation.
