While situated just outside the traditional St George boundaries, the Cerebral Palsy Alliance (CPA) Roselands Centre officially cemented its status as the primary hub for local families, offering a significant step up from the ageing facilities of the past.

The $5.7 million state-of-the-art facility was established to replace the former Penshurst site, which had reached its limit.

"Penshurst was a small and ageing therapy centre that was not fully accessible for our clients and their families," CPA chief executive Rob White said.

He said the Roselands move was essential to meet growing demand, providing a world-class facility that allowed for a much broader range of evidence-based therapies and innovative technology. Roselands became the closest and most advanced option for St George residents, acting as a vital bridge for families in the region.

On April 10, the centre hosted an open day to mark its first anniversary, welcoming support workers, residents, and families to explore what has become a flagship for the entire south-west Sydney region.

The investment, which included $2.9 million from the NSW government, transformed a vision of modern care into a reality. Minister Jihad Dib highlighted the importance of the project, stating, "This initiative underscores our dedication to enhancing support for individuals with disabilities and their families within our community."

The facility proved to be a far cry from its predecessor, boasting nine therapy rooms, flexible spaces for intensive group programs, and specialised equipment such as Bodyweight Supported Treadmill Training and VitalStim therapy.

These tools were particularly critical for the youngest attendees, as research indicates that the first two years of life are a crucial period for brain development.

Access to early intervention at Roselands has already begun making the difference in whether a child gains the independence to walk, eat, and play.

Aside from clinical sessions, the centre served as a community anchor throughout its first year, offering accessible gym programs, school holiday activities, and ready for school support.

The anniversary event featured guided tours and therapy demonstrations, giving families the chance to meet the team and see first hand how the site is at the forefront of delivering life-enhancing results.
