The White House on Thursday named six new members to the Presidio Trust Board of Directors, the federal corporation that oversees the 1,500-acre national park site at the foot of the Golden Gate Bridge.

The appointees are Lynne Benioff, co-chair of Time and a former Presidio Trust board chair; technology entrepreneur and diplomat Trevor Traina; John Bickford, managing partner at Local Capital Group; Stanford Graduate School of Business educator Laura Arrillaga-Andreessen; James Burnham, general counsel at xAI and X; and Redpanda CFO Kyle Corcoran, a former Marine who will hold the seat reserved for veterans.

The appointments come after President Donald Trump fired all six members of the board last month, reigniting concerns about his plans for one of San Francisco’s crown jewels. In February 2025, the president moved to dramatically reduce the Presidio Trust in an executive order, calling it an “unnecessary governmental entity (opens in new tab).

Several of the appointees are people who have aligned themselves closely with Trump or are related to those who have.

Benioff is married to Salesforce CEO Marc Benioff, who has soured on San Francisco and last year called on Trump to bring the National Guard to the city. Arrillaga-Andreessen is married to Marc Andreessen, CEO of venture capital firm Andreessen Horowitz. Andreessen Horowitz and its founders have collectively given $12 million (opens in new tab) to Trump’s super PAC, MAGA Inc. — half of that in March alone. Burnham previously served as founding general counsel of the Department of Government Efficiency, the Elon Musk-led task force that spent 2025 working to shrink federal agencies, including the Presidio Trust.

Lynne Benioff served on the trust’s board from 2015 to 2025 and was chair from June 2021 to March 2023. She also co-chaired the Presidio Tunnel Tops campaign, which raised $98 million in private donations to build the public space that opened above Doyle Drive.

“I’m honored to once again serve one of the greatest national park sites in America and so appreciative for the opportunity,” Benioff said in a statement. “The Presidio Trust is an incredibly well-run organization that brings in support from the private sector to support its public mission. I look forward to working with the new board to support the Presidio’s next chapter.”

Traina, who was appointed as U.S. ambassador to Austria during Trump’s first administration, said he was “delighted to have been asked to serve on the board of this unique and special place.”

“I look forward to carrying on the Presidio’s important mission begun by so many passionate champions,” he said.

The Presidio Trust is a federal government corporation that operates without ongoing federal appropriations, funding itself through hospitality and real estate businesses. The park on a former Army post draws 9.5 million visits a year and is managed in partnership with the National Park Service, with support from the Golden Gate National Parks Conservancy.

The trust is governed by a seven-member board. Six members are appointed by the president; the seventh is appointed by the U.S. secretary of the interior, although that seat has been vacant for years.
