Webinar: Service Alert Masterclass | Transit Webinar: How to prepare for mega events | Transit Which host city had the best public transit? | Transit Best App for Poland Public Transport Navigation and Travel TTC and Transit app are teaming up Metro Vancouver, meet your new official app The Great Vancouver Bench-marking Project 2025 Riders Choice Awards Shining a light on Metro Vancouver’s bus stops GOFS is ready for its close-up Transit 6.0: let’s make public transit more beautiful How we turned public transit into a multiplayer game The megaphone that’s making cities better
Spontaneous bus diversions are now visible in Liverpool

What passengers in Liverpool will now see

  • A map with the new diverted path
  • Relocated stops (with step-by-step directions to get there)
  • Trip plans and ETAs that respect the new diverted route
  • Automatic updates if the diversion changes, or disappears

Lost bus? Not in Liverpool: if road closures, matchdays, parades, festivals, or other events are leading your local bus astray, our app Transit will now detect the active diversion for you, and guide you to the right street.

Even if the diversion hasn’t been announced officially!

Unlike other apps, Transit shows you the map of the new diverted route, rather than the old route

We’re the only app to be able to detect disrupted bus service in Liverpool, — we detect when a bus deviates from its normal route, using real-time GPS positions. We then redraw the new route in the app, so you can easily see the disruption.

(We even include spontaneous diversions that Merseytravel hasn’t published yet in their official transport data!)

Liverpool’s main public transport apps (Merseytravel, and the Arriva UK Bus app) don’t do this. Nor do third-party apps like Google Maps or Apple Maps.

TL;DR: if you want to avoid the ~2000 diversions befouling Liverpool’s bus service each month — many of which go undetected — use Transit.

Once you download the app we’ll make sure you always know if your bus has been diverted, whether it’s:

  • A long-term disruption
  • A short-term diversion
  • A series of omitted stops

What does this mean for Liverpool?

No more parsing those longwinded signs whenever your bus service is disrupted — Scousers can now see active bus diversions right on the map!

…and what does this mean for our friends at transport authorities?

Today we’re launching diversion detection across Liverpool.

When we work with local operators or authorities, our diversion detection software works even better — staff can see all of their active diversions in one central hub, approve and reject individual diversions, mark individual stops as “closed”, append new stops to the diverted route shape, flag disrupted bus lines, and send push notifications to passengers affected by individual disruptions.

Just like transport authorities are doing across the US, Canada and France, with our help!

Our diversion management software also lets transport authorities export diversions for use in their own apps. (Could diversions one day appear in the Merseytravel and Arriva UK Bus apps? Now they technically can!)

Work at Merseytravel? Let’s talk.

In addition to real-time detection for bus diversions, passengers in Liverpool will also be able to enjoy our app’s other notable features, like:

Well there you go la’. The best app for Liverpool buses just got better.

Whether you’re cruising around town or headed over the water, we’ve got your back, all the way back onto the back of the bus.
