Temperature Check Report Europe 2025: a reader’s POV
Laura Allen · 2025-06-26 · via isla

'I’m guilty of obsessing over gathering the most accurate and detailed data, and the report helped change my perspective.'

The second iteration of the Temperature Check Report is the first data-led snapshot of carbon emissions across European business events. We asked Gabriella Weekes, Supplier & Sustainability Lead at Sleek Events, for their thoughts on the report and key takeaways.

1) How has reading the Temperature Check Report Europe 2025 influenced your approach to your own sustainability goals?

It certainly has in approaching things more holistically with less focus on the detail for areas which have the lowest impact for things that will really move the dial. I’m guilty of obsessing over gathering the most accurate and detailed data, and the report helped change my perspective.

2) What were the key takeaway stats or data points you found most interesting or useful in the report?

The split by event type and emissions profiles was really fascinating. It sounds so obvious once you read the difference in emissions profiles between events such as private dinners, experiential and conferences and exhibition stands for example, however it’s easy to approach every event in the same way when it comes to measurement, when actually the results are so different.

3) What were the insights that you found the most surprising within the report?

There were a couple that really stood out to me:

  • The first was that 98.6% of catering emissions come from food directly, and that plant based food lowers emissions by 95.4%.
  • And that 61% of event emissions recorded on TRACE come from outer sources outside of audience Travel. It helped me realise that there is still a large proportion of events that we can still have some influence over which is a really positive statistic especially when thinking about staff travel, production transport and production materials which were the next biggest 3 categories after audience travel.

4) Which areas from the report would you like like to learn more about?

Materiality and working in more of a circular way. Taking the insights from the best performing events and sharing it for other agencies to model.
