The US Government spent $1.2 billion over a three-year period to limit China’s technological, political and military power, but a third of its projects have gone untracked, say auditors.
A total of 470 projects received a share of federal funds to “counter Chinese influence” between the 2020 and 2023 financial years, according to the Government Accountability Office (GAO).
In a report published June 17, the federal auditor said a third of the projects had not collected or shared data on their activity.
