INRIX Celebrates NCTCOG’s TexITE Award for Advancing Data...
Ashley Babani · 2026-05-07 · via INRIX

INRIX proudly congratulates the North Central Texas Council of Governments (NCTCOG) on receiving the 2026 TexITE Transportation Achievement Award in Traffic Engineering, an honor that recognizes leadership in data-driven mobility innovation.

This recognition highlights an evolution in regional signal timing, powered by data, collaboration, and innovation.

From Subjective Selection to Objective, Performance-Based Planning

Through its Regional Traffic Signal Program (RTSP), NCTCOG has fundamentally transformed how corridors are selected for signal retiming. Moving beyond traditional, nomination-based approaches, the program introduced a performance-driven methodology developed in partnership with KimleyHorn. Powered by regionwidehighresolution traffic performance data from INRIX Signal Analytics, the program proactively and objectively identifies corridors with the greatest potential for operational improvement, enabling agencies to focus resources where they can achieve the most measurable impact.

Turning Data into Actionable Regional Insights

Using Signal Analytics, NCTCOG evaluates corridors across the Dallas-Fort Worth region with consistent, outcome-based metrics such as delay per mile, travel time reliability, and intersection performance. These metrics help prioritize projects that deliver meaningful improvements in mobility, efficiency, and reliability.

Scaling Impact Across a Growing Transportation Network

The scale and ambition of this effort are significant. With more than 7,000 traffic signals across the region, NCTCOG analyzed over 1,300 corridors to identify top candidates for optimization. By integrating Signal Analytics throughout the process, from corridor identification to before-and-after evaluation, the program creates a continuous, data-driven feedback loop that enhances long-term performance.

Empowering Agencies Through Shared Access and Collaboration

A defining feature of RTSP is its regional impact. NCTCOG has provided INRIX Signal Analytics to member agencies across the region, equipping them with powerful tools to monitor operations, troubleshoot issues, and proactively improve signal performance. This shared approach fosters collaboration while enabling local decision making backed by trusted data.

Leading the Future of Smarter Mobility

NCTCOG’s award-winning approach demonstrates how modern analytics can elevate traffic engineering from reactive adjustments to proactive system management. INRIX is honored to support this work and applauds NCTCOG for setting a new benchmark in regional signal timing.

Congratulations to NCTCOG on this well-deserved recognition and for leading the way toward a more efficient, reliable transportation future.
