Foldables have always been the wildcard in the smartphone world — beautiful in theory, sometimes frustrating in practice, and almost always priced like luxury goods. In India, where consumers are increasingly willing to spend on cutting-edge devices yet remain pragmatic about real-world use, Google’s latest upgrade to its foldable lineup, the Pixel 10 Pro Fold, vies for the top spot along with capable competitors, including foldables from both Samsung and Vivo. 

Design

Google’s design language with the Pixel Fold continues to be more sober than flashy — no contoured curves or gaudy accents, just elegant aerospace-grade aluminium with an IP68 rating. An IP68 rating on a foldable is still rare enough to matter, and it directly affects how confidently you can use an expensive device like this in everyday conditions. The design is fairly straightforward and not massively different from the Pixel 9 Pro Fold. There’s only one colour variant - Moonstone - an icy grey, which personally I’m not a fan of. However, it looks professional enough for folks who are likely to be donning a foldable like this one from their pockets. Another area of disappointment would be that it’s significantly heavier and noticeably thicker than the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold7, which sports a marginally bigger display than the Pixel as well. 

Display

The massive 8-inch internal display is sprawling and vivid — perfect for reading long articles, splitting the screen for multitasking, or watching movies without squinting — while the 6.4-inch cover screen is spacious enough for most tasks when you don’t need the full canvas. Both panels boast a 120 Hz refresh rate and can hit up to 3,000 nits of peak brightness, which means outdoor visibility is excellent even under harsh sunlight. I was watching the crazy Apple Cider Vinegar on Netflix on this device, and while the barely-fictionalised storyline is gripping as hell, the massive virtual canvas on the Pixel was the perfect space to enjoy the series on. The stereo front-firing speakers deliver immersive audio with Dolby Atmos support, making movie watching, gaming, and music streaming feel cinematic. Casual gaming is also fun on the big screen, although not all games (or movies and shows, for that matter) optimise well on the dual display.  

Camera

Cameras have often been the Pixel line’s calling card, and while the Fold carries respectable hardware — a 48 MP main, 10.5 MP ultrawide, and 10.8 MP 5x telephoto — the magic continues to lie in Google’s computational photography. Daylight shots are crisp with good dynamic range, and the telephoto delivers useful zoom without too much noise in well-lit conditions. Low-light performance is competent but not class-leading, and the camera app’s fold-specific tricks like Dual Screen Preview genuinely make shooting easier and more creative than on many competitors. Still, the camera setup doesn’t feel as capable as Google’s slab-style Pro phones, especially if photography is a priority.

Tech Specs

Under the hood sits Google’s Tensor G5 chip paired with 16 GB RAM and a single option 256 GB storage. The foldable runs Android 16 with the pure Pixel experience and boasts seven years of software and security updates — easily one of the longest support guarantees in the Android ecosystem. In daily use, the phone feels fast, responsive, and capable of handling heavy multitasking without breaking a sweat. Whether it’s split-screen productivity, gaming, or quick app switching, the combination of hardware and software feels more cohesive than in many other premium Android phones.

Software is where the Pixel 10 Pro Fold differentiates itself from other foldables. Split Screen functionality allows users to run multiple apps simultaneously, with the ability to resize them dynamically and swap positions with a simple double-tap. Drag and Drop across apps mimics a desktop experience, making transferring media, documents, or links effortless. Deep Research acts as a personalised research agent, capable of sifting through complex online content to produce clear, organised summaries, a feature particularly useful for professionals, students, or marketers.

Features like real-time translation, deep AI integration via Gemini, and intelligent multitasking feel less like gimmicks and more like subtle helpers in day-to-day use. Whether you’re folding it open to draft emails or using the outer display for quick replies, the software never feels like an afterthought.

Battery

The flagship smartphone houses the largest battery Google has ever fitted into a foldable - about 5,015 mAh. The brand claims that it can provide more than 30 hours of usage on a single charge under mixed usage scenarios. In real usage, the device breezes through a full day of varied use — from watching multimedia, browsing through video content, reading articles online, playing casual games, and taking photos — with ample juice to spare.

Verdict

The Google Pixel 10 Pro Fold isn’t the most stylish foldable out there, but it definitely is one of the most practical ones. Users who want software that feels intuitive, cameras that deliver reliable results, and a display experience that rivals small tablets will appreciate what this device has to offer. For Indian consumers considering a premium foldable, it’s worth serious consideration — particularly if you value long-term software support, AI-driven features, and durability credentials like IP68. It’s not the thinnest, nor the flashiest, but it’s a foldable that feels like it was designed to work as hard as you do.
