You’ve watched Off Campus, you’ve rewatched Off Campus, and now you’re noticing things you didn’t pick up on the first time. Like, ya know, Garrett Graham’s giant back tattoo.
The tattoo in question reads “Nullum Gratuitum Prandium” in Latin, which translates to “there is no free lunch” in English. And turns out the new ink (Garrett simply has a fire tattoo in the books) was actor Belmont Cameli’s idea: it was his high school wrestling team’s official mantra!

“What essentially it means is that everything in life is earned. Everything has a cost; nothing comes free,” he told Teen Vogue. “It’s a core tenet of who [Garrett] is that he refuses to let anything be handed to him. He wants to deserve all of the accolades and achievements that he has.”
Belmont added, “So having it across his back, I thought was a nice place for it because when he has the jersey on, it says Graham right there. But when he peels the jersey off, just on his own skin, you get to see that phrase really encapsulate who he is.”
In other words, the tattoo is a reminder to Garrett that he’s not just riding his famous dad’s hockey coattails. He became captain of Briar University’s hockey team thanks to his own skill, determination, and hard work.
Off Campus is currently streaming on Prime for you to watch on repeat (it’s fine). For everything we know about season 2 (which has been greenlit), head below!
