My dermatologist recommended AmLactin’s Daily Nourish Lotion over a decade ago to help with my body acne and ingrown hairs, and my bodycare routine hasn’t been the same since. I use it almost every day after showering, and it’s become a staple for smoothing rough texture, preventing ingrown hairs, fading acne marks, and keeping dryness in check.
Formulated with 12 percent lactic acid alongside hydrators like glycerin and dimethicone, it has a lightweight, creamy texture that absorbs fast. Since my skin leans dry, I don’t find it greasy or sticky, but some reviewers say it can feel a little heavy during hotter months.
There’s also a stronger 15 percent lactic acid version that I especially love using during winter, mainly for my feet. It delivers potent exfoliation for roughness, while the Intensive Rich Cream has a thicker, body-butter-like texture that feels incredibly nourishing on super-dry skin.
If 12 percent lactic acid sounds a little intense, the Calm & Renew Lotion is a gentler option. The formula combines 2% lactic acid with ginger root extract, so you still get the smoothing and exfoliating benefits—just on a less aggressive level. I reach for this one after shaving or on days when I’ve spent a little too much time in the sun. It gives my skin good exfoliation without pushing it to the point of irritation.
The texture feels deeply hydrating yet lightweight and fast-absorbing, with a major bonus: it doesn’t sting when I accidentally nick myself while shaving. Since the lactic acid percentage is lower, the results aren’t quite as dramatic as the original formula, but it also feels less sticky on the skin. I rotate between Calm & Renew and the Daily Nourish 12% depending on what my skin needs that day.

When I want a targeted treatment for post-body-acne marks or underarm discoloration, I reach for the Bright & Smooth Resurfacing Serum. It’s made with a 5 percent blend of glycolic and lactic acids to gently exfoliate, plus niacinamide and vitamin C to help fade dark spots and brighten uneven skin tone. The texture feels lightweight and gel-like, and it absorbs quickly without leaving behind any sticky residue.
Right after my nightly shower, I apply it to any areas with dark spots, discoloration, or lingering post-breakout marks, then follow with body lotion. I’ll usually layer one of my AmLactin lotions on top for extra hydration and exfoliation.
After a few days of consistent use, I notice my breakouts calming down and post-acne marks starting to fade. Hyperpigmentation and uneven tone take a little longer, but within a couple of weeks, my skin looks noticeably brighter, smoother, and more even overall. I mostly use it on my body, but it’s gentle enough for the face, too.
