Olivia and Madison meet at 12 while auditioning for the Disney show Best Friends Whenever. Madison ends up landing the role…but they later get booked as besties on Bizaardvark and bond while on a two-week Disney Cruise Line trip together.
As Olivia says of the trip during her cover story interview with Cosmo, “We were like Beyoncé and Jay-Z on that boat.”
Bizaardvark premieres, introducing us to these besties:

Liv and Madison present together at the 2017 Radio Disney Music Awards.

During an interview with Sweety High, Liv dishes about her offscreen friendship with Madison, saying, “Madison and I hang out off set super often. We do everything: see movies, shop for records, cook, and have sleepovers. I’m so lucky that my costar is also my best friend!”
Another year, another Radio Disney Music Awards ceremony!

After three seasons, Bizaardvark airs its final episode…but it’s certainly not the end of Olivia and Madison’s friendship!

Madison moves to NYC to start her freshman year of college at Columbia, kicking off their long-distance friendship era.
Found: a very rare Instagram post from Madi wishing Liv a happy birthday.
Liv refers to Madison as her “soul mate” during an interview with Elle…and this definitely isn’t the first time she’s done so:
Madison is tapped to give a quote for Olivia’s Vogue cover story, and she says, “I don’t even remember a time when we were getting to know each other. It was immediately like, ‘Olivia’s my best friend.’”
Madison makes a cameo in the “bad idea right?” video along with Iris Apatow and Tate McRae:
While chatting with The Face, Madison reveals that a convo between herself and Olivia helped inspire “logical,” which is one of the tracks on GUTS. “I was talking about how love isn’t logical, and she paused me to write a sentence down,” she says of Olivia. “I’m very glad she did.”
And of course, Madison has some sweet things to say about Liv: “The respect and admiration we have for each other is something I feel so lucky to be able to experience. Our friendship has taught me how to approach almost every other relationship I have and have had in my life.”
Gushy birthday Instagram post incoming, in which Liv refers to Madi as “the coolest, funniest, best person I have ever met!!!!!”
Madi and Liv attend a Grammys after-party alongside Rosé and Tate McRae.

Liv refers to Madison as her “bestest friend in the whole world” during her British Vogue cover story. “I always say that if I didn’t have her I might have gone a little crazy,” she says of Madison. “She knows every part of my life. We’re like sisters.” Later, she adds, “We treat it like you would a romantic relationship, where you’re like, ‘I need to see you and talk to you and feel connected to you in some way.’”
And the feeling is clearly mutual. As Madison says, “This friendship with Olivia has been the longest, most meaningful relationship of my life.”
Madison interviews Olivia for Cosmo (hi!), where the two share too many cute tidbits about their friendship to count. Some top notes:
