So much so that it was recently crowned best skincare multi-tool in our annual Holy Grail Beauty Awards.
But what exactly does this device do? And is it worthy of its viral status? And a $220 price tag? Keep reading for Cosmo’s full review of the Medicube Age-R Booster Pro.

The Medicube Age-R Booster Pro is a multitasking tool designed with four different modes to work in tandem with your skincare routine: The booster setting has electroporation to increase product absorption (our personal favorite), microcurrent to firm and plump, derma shot uses EMS (electric muscle stimulation) to sculpt the face, and air shot mode has electric needles to tighten pores and improve texture (don’t worry, it doesn’t hurt).
Then each five-minute setting is automated with a corresponding vibration pattern and LED color—orange, green, red, and blue—to enhance the modality’s function. And if that’s all slightly confusing, here’s a breakdown of each mode.
Booster mode (with orange LED) utilizes electroporation, which allows your skincare products to penetrate deeper into your skin for amplified results, increased efficacy, and enhanced radiance.
Microcurrent mode (with green LED) is like a mini workout for your face. By using small electrical pulses, this setting stimulates facial muscles to lift and “tone,” helping to smooth out fine lines and wrinkles.
Derma-shot mode (with red LED) is similar to microcurrent except a bit stronger. It uses high electrical pulses that are designed to directly improve skin laxity and boost firmness to help snatch your jawline, cheekbones, etc.
Air shot mode (with blue LED) exfoliates and refines skin texture by sending out tiny electrical signals that create micro holes in pores. This can potentially help clear out pores (making them appear tighter and smoother) and jump-start collagen production for better skin elasticity.
With all of these settings and modes, the device sounds somewhat complicated to use, but it’s surprisingly simple to get the hang of. The power button turns on the device, while the “mode” button below it allows you to toggle through the four settings. Once you select your treatment, you can click the power button again to choose a vibration level between one and five (one being the mildest, while five is the most intense) to use alongside your treatment.
Then apply your favorite face serum or moisturizer before using the device on the booster, microcurrent, or derma-shot modes for the tool to glide smoothly across your face. Plus, the booster mode is literally made to enhance the absorption of products, so don’t be afraid to layer on that skincare routine to maximize the ingredients’ potency. When it comes to the air shot mode, though, that should be used on a freshly cleaned, bare face two or three times a week.

And realistically, a lot of the single-feature skincare tools on the market cost more than this multitasker.

And with continued consistency, microcurrent, LED, the mini vibrations, and more work to smooth and lift the skin over time.
