Netflix's latest survival show Outlast: The Jungle aired its final episodes last week, as we finally found out who walked away with a share of the $1 million prize fund: Nikki Hru and Maddy Jones. But a year on from filming, what are they and the rest of the cast up to now?
If you're a fan of Race Across the World or Survivor, the chances are Outlast: The Jungle is going to be right up your alley. The series follows 16 contestants stranded in Panama who are trying to outlast each other in the jungle (hence the show name) in order to win the prize money. The main rule? You have to be in a team in order to win, and so contestants must navigate team politics and personalities while hunting, enduring the elements, and trying to last the longest. The final episode saw Nikki and Maddy winning one final trek across the jungle against Pharaoh and Abby.
The series was filmed in June 2025, airing exactly a year later in June 2026. So, a year after filming, where are the cast now?
Speaking to Entertainment Weekly about how she was going to spend her winnings, Nikki said, "This is gonna sound so silly, but the first thing I’m buying is a really good mermaid tail, because it has been on my wish list since I was five, and I want one that I can swim in so I can free dive with a mermaid tail.
"I think that, otherwise, I will be responsible with it. I am happy my life can kind of be settled and I can be back to the trajectory I was on prior to some hardships. So that’s great. But the fun answer is a mermaid tail."
With her half of the winnings ($500k!), Maddy told EW, "I’ll probably buy some nice things for myself. I’ll upgrade my house or maybe my car or some nice things. But something that was important to my husband and I is to help some of his family and friends in the Philippines.
"His mother has extended efforts to have a water treatment facility in the Philippines to help supply safe and healthy drinking water for them. So my goal is to start a nonprofit to help fund that project."
Although Leiya made it to the final trek, she didn't finish with team Alpha, who decided to vote her off on the second-to-last day. She has since taken to Instagram to share an insight into what she's been up to in the last year, including taking oil painting classes, spending time with her family and at church, and adopting a puppy named Ludo.
Since his time on the show, Pharaoh has been continuing his work as a wildlife educator, continuing his educational workshops across Florida. His Instagram grid shows photos of him with crocodiles, snakes and reptiles, as well as traveling to Southeast Asia to see the mangrove trees.
Abby has been continuing her adventures and traveling all over the world, sharing videos swimming with sharks in Florida, street dogs in Cambodia and hiking in New Zealand. Oh, and she's also been horse-riding in Costa Rica, and wrestling alligators at “Gator-fest.”
Sarah had a bit of a rough time on Outlast: The Jungle, and struggled to fit seamlessly into any of the camps. That didn't put her off reality TV, though—since the show, she has also appeared on Squid Game: The Challenge season 2, as well as doing more traveling.
When the show aired, she took to Instagram to share a Reel of her opening a coconut to drink along with the caption, "Had to comfort myself with a coconut after finishing the final episodes. It was like I was reliving everything again. In the hardest moments.. always have gratitude for what you have. It’s easy to point out everything you don’t have and be negative. Especially in the world we live in today. Trust God’s plan in addition to always giving 100% in everything that you do."
Sean was forced to leave the jungle after fainting into the fire. He was evacuated to hospital where he began a lengthy recovery. Since the show, he has taken to Instagram to assure viewers he is back to full health, although the process was long. In a recent Instagram post, he described himself as a “coach, a nonprofit founder, an animal rescuer, a fisherman, a husband, and apparently a reality TV survivor. 39 going on 13, with no plans to change that.”
Since the show, Halle has continued modeling and horse-riding, and has reflected on her time on the show. "The most insane experience of my life," she wrote of Outlast: The Jungle. "Not many people can say they survived 26 days in the Panamanian jungle. I am so proud of myself for taking the jump and said yes to going on the show. I had zero survival skills, and was terrified. But knew I wanted to do it to prove to myself that I can do hard things, and stay true to my morals in the toughest of circumstances.
"I will forever beat myself up for not making it to the end, and I cried watching Maddy and Nikki win. Tears of joy being so proud of my team, but sadness too knowing I should’ve been right there with them celebrating. I wish I could’ve given more and stayed longer for myself and my team. It’s hard to not have the thoughts of what you would’ve done differently keep you up at night."
Ben was removed from Team Alpha after Team Charlie won a challenge and was given the opportunity to force a contestant to leave their camp. Since the show, he has been doing very Ben things: Sharing thirst traps (like, multiple topless pictures), skiing and hiking, and hanging out with friends and families. He has also been answering fan questions about Outlast on Instagram Stories and has a podcast and YouTube channel called RestlessBen.
Since his time on the show, Wes has been promoting his Win With Wes business, which is a consultancy firm, and giving keynote speeches as an ex-NFL pro. He has also spoken out about the trolling he has received about his appearance on Outlast: The Jungle, writing on Instagram, "I feel it’s a perfect time to be open and transparent about how I deal with conflict and ridicule. I welcome it!! 😄
"All opinions and dialogue are welcome here. You’re free to voice whatever viewpoints you’d like, and I actually find some insults to be funny. 😆 But saying my family should be murdered might be means for dismissal. 🤷🏽♂️ But hey thanks again for watching this season of Outlast: The Jungle!"
Can we have another season already?
