‘Your Fault: London’ Fixes the Biggest Problems With ‘Culpa Tuya’
Chiara Giovannini · 2026-06-23 · via Latest Content - Cosmopolitan

Ever since Your Fault: London arrived on Prime Video, the debate among fans of Mercedes Ron’s saga has become inevitable: Is the Spanish version or the English one better? Obviously it’s a matter of taste, but after watching the film, one thing seemed clear to me: Your Fault: London manages to make Nick and Noah’s story more believable, more grounded, and, in some ways, even more emotional.

The reason has nothing to do with changing the source material. On the contrary, it reworks it by removing some elements that were harder to accept in the Spanish version and focusing more on the relationships between the characters. Here are the three reasons why Your Fault: London works better than Culpa Tuya.

The drama is more realistic and less contrived

One of the strengths of Your Fault: London is that the conflicts really seem to arise from the characters’ choices, rather than from a constant escalation of unlikely events inserted only to add more fuel to the fire.

The tension between Nick and Noah remains extremely high, but it is built through misunderstandings, jealousy, secrets, and emotional vulnerabilities that feel much closer to reality. The viewer can understand why the two hurt each other and, above all, why they continue to love each other despite everything.

In Culpa Tuya, on the other hand, the drama often ended up being fueled by increasingly extreme situations, which risked distancing the audience from the characters.

Nick and Noah feel like real people

One of the most successful changes concerns the simplification of some secondary storylines.

The English version greatly reduces the importance of the plot involving Nick’s mother (he has no conflict with her) and also lightens the one involving Noah’s father (who, instead of having died after her kidnapping, is simply in prison). These are two narrative threads that took up a lot of space in the Spanish film saga and often resulted in particularly melodramatic and over-the-top situations.

The result is that Nick and Noah become the true narrative focus of the story. Their fears and mistakes emerge more strongly because they are not constantly overshadowed by increasingly complicated subplots. This makes both protagonists much more human and easier for fans to understand. Even when they make mistakes, it is easier to empathize with them.

The ending truly raises the stakes

The most obvious difference between the two films comes in the final minutes of footage.

In Culpa Tuya, the story stops immediately after Noah and Michael’s discovery, leaving much of the aftermath off-screen. The audience has to wait for the next chapter to understand what really happened and, above all, what the consequences are.

Your Fault: London, instead, decides not to wait and to immediately show the eruption of the conflict. Nick confronts Michael, loses control, and is arrested in front of Noah. It is a much harsher ending, dramatic and, above all, more impactful from a narrative point of view. Not only does it increase anticipation for the sequel, but it also makes the consequences of the protagonist’s actions immediately visible.

The most interesting thing about Your Fault: London is that it does not try to replicate scene by scene Culpa Tuya. That would have been pointless. The English production takes the same story and reinterprets it through a more realistic approach, more focused on the characters. For this reason, even those who already know the Spanish saga perfectly can still find new and surprising elements.
