Fashion is cyclical, and it’s true that wide-leg jeans have gone in and out of style over the years. With the skinny jeans craze that whipped through the 2010s, we saw this iconic cut fall to the back of our collective closets, but thankfully (if you’re asking me) skinny jeans are no longer that diva and wide-leg jeans are back on their rightful throne.
A good wide-leg denim moment pulls together a look. Especially for the Gen Z girls who live by the “baggy jean, tiny top” outfit set-up. Wide-leg jeans go well with so many styles, and when planning out your summer looks, you’re going to want to have a few pairs readily available. To get the juices flowing, I have a few prime styling examples when creating your wide-leg jean outfits this summer.
There’s nothing that says cool girl like a dark wash jean. Especially during the warmer days, pairing it with a neutral colored tank (like this gray one) is perfect. You can also add a sweater around the waist as a not only practical layer, but styling tool.
Summer whites should be a staple in your closet, and this ruffled high-neck top goes perfectly with a light wash pair of wide-leg jeans.
We’ve seen the growing trend of bras and bralettes serving as actual tops and this is a summer-friendly option. The knitted top with a baggy wide-leg pant leans into the TikTok favorite “tiny top, baggy jean” era we’re in.
I cannot say no to a dress-over-jeans moment, and this one in particular hits all the marks. From the slip dress with lace trim, we’re leaning all the way in to the hottest fashion trends of the summer.
For the on-the-go girls, a simple dark-wash, wide-leg jean, bomber jacket, and sneakers can be a quick outfit formula, that also makes you look super chic. Just make sure to add in some fun accessories like a staple purse and a pair of sunglasses.
This is one of my favorite wide-leg jean outfit formulas, because it’s rather minimalist, layering wise. All you need to do is find a staple top, throw on your jeans, and a muted pair of shoes and you’re suddenly all put together.
