Kacey Musgraves may be going through a romantic dry spell, but at least it’s not a sartorial one. Today, denim brand Lee announced “Kacey Lee,” its first celebrity collaboration designed with the eight-time Grammy Award winner.

Lee happens to be Kacey’s middle name. She also wore a lot of denim, specifically Lee, growing up, so this fashion partnership feels divinely aligned. It features an assortment of products—from men’s and women’s denim bottoms and tops to sleepwear, swimwear, and accessories.

“The cool thing about the collection is that there are so many different varied pieces and styles,” Kacey tells Cosmo. “There are swimsuits that you can throw on underneath a pair of overalls and go out in. There are some really great accessories and belts, and even some of the men’s workwear and t-shirts can totally be worn by women, too.”

Kacey has solidified herself as one of the queens of country music. So her take on Western fashion as it currently stands is of high authority. And I couldn’t help but ask about the controversial cowboy boots tucked in or out fashion craze.

“I’m a tucked-out-of-jeans-in-cowboy-boots kind of person,” Kacey says. “If I’m at the barn, I’ll just pull my boots on and not really think about it too much, so I guess sometimes I do have them tucked in, but for fashion purposes, I go for jeans over boots.”

When thinking about her preferred denim style, she’s super into a relaxed pair of straight-leg jeans, adding that comfort is always top of mind for her, whether she’s hanging with friends or performing.

Now more than ever, we’ve seen an increase in Western fashion. From Coachella to day-to-day, boots, belt buckles, and a good pair of jeans are being worn by cowboys and city folk alike—which is why Kacey is big on building out your own personal style while also letting the world around you help influence your choices.

“I think style is such a beautiful blend of cultures, ideas, backgrounds, and beliefs,” she says. “It’s a way to express yourself and tell your story. Fashion is definitely a way to do that. I feel like I’m a storyteller at heart, and it comes out first in my songs and then it spreads to other areas, and this collection was a really fun way to continue in some of those stories by imagining up who would wear these pieces, and what they’d be doing while wearing them.”
