Lewis Hamilton and Kim Kardashian’s relationship thus far is best described as “private,” but it looks like we won’t be getting a red-carpet hard launch anytime soon, since he skipped the 2026 Met Gala. Though fans anticipated they might make their Met debut as a couple, Kim actually arrived on the red carpet solo in a custom metallic orange breastplate by Allen Jones and Whitaker Malem:

As for why Lewis didn’t make his way up the Met steps this year? He was actually competing in the Miami Grand Prix on Sunday, May 3. Per footage captured by Us Weekly, the famous driver strolled through the Ferrari garage with victory on his mind, though he ended up coming in sixth place.

While he probably could have made it to New York in time for the festivities, he likely just wanted to rest after the big race. And, honestly, who can blame him?

As he later revealed on Instagram, it was a “challenging weekend” for him, so it’s understandable that he would want a lil break.

Kim and Lewis were first linked over New Year’s and have since been spotted all over the world—including a recent trip to Tokyo with Kim’s family. Back in March, a source told Us Weekly, “They are going strong and really happy. Lewis is head over heels and those closest to him believe he has finally met his match. He has waited over a decade for his dream girl and is crazy about her.”

On top of that, “They are both very committed to making things work no matter how long the distance is or how busy they are. Because their relationship started with a friendship first, those closest to them believe this could be endgame for them both.”

Meanwhile, an insider told People that “he's just an easygoing guy with great energy. Her family likes him and Kim's very into him. They are both busy with their careers, but see each other as much as possible. It’s more than just a casual connection. It takes a lot to capture Kim's interest and she's definitely intrigued.”
