Before they solidified their ride-or-die status via dinner and a glass of wine on “No Body, No Crime,” there was a universe where Taylor Swift and Haim were mere strangers. Thankfully, those days are gone (heh) and sisters Alana, Este, and Danielle Haim are still going strong as elite members of Tay’s squad. No, seriously—they’ve attended the “Cruel Summer” singer’s famous Fourth of July bash nearly every year since its inception in 2013.
That being said! It’s (Haim) time to deep dive into Taylor Swift and Haim’s full friendship timeline, from their social media love fests to embarking on the Eras Tour together.
It technically all started at the Woodie Awards when the Haim sisters were asked who Taylor should date after her breakup with Harry Styles. Alana lowkey predicted their future friendship, saying (per the Daily Mail), “T.T. Swift, don’t date someone else. Come out with us, and we will party, and we will be together as girls and be merry, and we don’t need guys. Girl power.”
Haim secured the coveted T-Swift follow on Instagram.
Two days after Taylor dropped 1989, Haim posted a tweet gushing about “This Love.” ’Kay, always knew these gals had taste!
Naturally, Tay posted the *most* Taylor Swift response ever (that has since been deleted, womp):

Soon after, Este, Alana, and Danielle were among the star-studded guests at Tay’s 25th birthday party (which included Beyoncé, Jay-Z, Selena Gomez, Justin Timberlake, and Sam Smith, to name a few).
Haim, Taylor, Lorde, Jaime King, and Gracie Gold took a girls’ trip to Catalina.
Not long after, Haim, Lorde, Jaime King, and Taylor all posed together at Netflix’s Golden Globes after-party.
Tay and Haim took Hawaii, and this iconic photo was born, debunking the truly chaotic theory that Taylor didn’t have a belly button (ya know, because she almost exclusively wore high-waisted clothing).
The besties also wore matching Bill Murray shirts during a hike.
Haim was announced as an opening act for select dates of Taylor’s 1989 World Tour, and soon after, Taylor, her childhood BFF Abigail, and the Haim sisters hung out at the Clive Davis pre-Grammy gala.

Haim also spoke about their new friendship with Taylor during an interview with HLN’s The Daily Share. “We ended up just hanging out one night and we realized…we made each other laugh for seven hours straight,” Alana explained. “It was just laughs and I was like, ‘Oh my god, you are literally one of us.’”
Este added, “You know when you meet someone and you’re just like, ‘I’m a puzzle piece, you’re a puzzle piece and we fit together’? That’s what it felt like.”
The girls were straight vibing as they supported Taylor’s boyfriend at the time, Calvin Harris, during his performance at 102.7 KISS FM’s Wango Tango.
Haim started their run on the 1989 World Tour, and according to a fan on Twitter, they were wearing custom squad merch backstage:

Taylor announced the release of her 10th album, Evermore, which includes a Haim collab. The sisters teased their involvement on Twitter, writing:
Thus, the iconic “No Body, No Crime” was born. The real crime is that there’s no music video for the track (@Taylor @Haim, call me up, I have some ideas).
Taylor revealed the inspo behind the song during an interview with Entertainment Weekly, saying, “Working with the Haim sisters on ‘No Body, No Crime’ was pretty hilarious because it came about after I wrote a pretty dark murder mystery song and had named the character ‘Este’ because she’s the friend I have who would be stoked to be in a song like that.”
She continued, “I had finished the song and was nailing down some lyric details and texted her, ‘You’re not going to understand this text for a few days but...which chain restaurant do you like best?’ and I named a few.” According to Taylor, “She chose Olive Garden and a few days later, I sent her the song and asked if they would sing on it. It was an immediate ‘YES.’”
The Evermore track marked their first collaboration together, and Taylor was well aware of the shock that came along with that fact. “We can’t figure out why we hadn’t collaborated sooner. We’ve toured together, played live together, choreographed dances like we’re at summer camp, but it took a song about avenging your friend’s murder to give us the idea to take this step,” Taylor explained, jokingly adding, “Long story short, I’m the 4th Haim sister now, confirmed.”
Haim released a remix of their Women in Music, Pt. III track, “Gasoline” featuring Taylor.
At the time, Haim wrote:
“Since we released the album in June, Taylor had always told us that ‘Gasoline’ was her favorite. So when we were thinking about ways to reimagine some of the songs from the record, we immediately thought of her. She brought such amazing ideas and new imagery to the song and truly gave it new life. Thank you @taylorswift for adding your incredible voice and spirit to a song that means so much to us.”
Meanwhile, Taylor confirmed (again) that she’s the fourth Haim sister with her own post promoting the collab:

Nearly a year after Evermore’s release, Taylor and Alana had a joint birthday party, as featured on the “22” singer’s Instagram:
Later, when asked why she had said joint birthday party with Taylor during an interview with The Tennesseean, Alana said, “Well, we’re both Sagittariuses. Taylor is honestly one of the only Sagittariuses that I know. It’s not a lie that Sagittariuses love to have a good time, and that’s what we did. I haven’t celebrated my birthday in a couple of years, obviously, because of the pandemic. So it was really fun to have everybody together, blow out some candles and have a dance party.”
Tay surprised the crowd during Haim’s show at the O2 in London with a medley of “Gasoline” and “Love Story.”

Taylor officially announced her Eras Tour and revealed that she’ll be reuniting with Haim on the road!
Taylor really said, “BTW, I’m going out tonight” with some of her besties after reports of her split from Joe Alwyn surfaced. The Haim sisters, Blake Lively, and Gigi Hadid joined her for a night at Zero Bond in NYC.
During an interview with Elle UK, the sisters were asked what it was like touring with Taylor. “The best tour ever, we’d have parties after every show,” Este said.
Tay celebrated Fourth of July with the sisters and some other gal pals, including Selena Gomez. “Happy belated Independence Day from your local neighborhood independent girlies 😎,” she wrote in her July 7 Instagram post.
Then Haim kicked off their run at the Eras Tour in Seattle, and of course, they joined Tay onstage for “No Body, No Crime”:
