And after being glued to my screen for probably a collective of 18 hours looking at thousands of Weekend 1 looks? The second I saw Jennie Kim’s diva-coded, maximalist sunglasses, I was sold. Consider it decided: These are hands-down my sunglasses for the summer. And honestly, big, glamorous sunnies are on the come-up… and it’s about time.
The BLACKPINK icon pulled up to the REVOLVE Festival wearing QUAY’s Set List shield sunglasses. The dramatically oversized style is a sharp left turn from the minimalist, early-’90s Carolyn Bessette Kennedy world we’ve been living in, where barely-there, skinny frames have dominated sunglasses drawers for the past few years. And, you know what? I love that.

Second, they’re surprisingly easy to style. Jennie lets the sunglasses do all the talking, pairing them with a graphic tee and a denim skirt. Keeping the outfit pared back lets the shades get their full glam moment. Plus, the lenses pick up the red trim on her tee, making the whole thing feel effortlessly coordinated.
My fellow fashion lovers already know these look really similar to the Tom Ford Brunson aviators that have been viral for years—I’d even go so far as to call them the perfect dupe. And the timing couldn’t be better. Style is very much relishing in its maximalist era right now: loud prints, chunky, playful jewelry, colors, and patterns that would typically have no business working together… but somehow do.
Basically, those thin black sunglasses we’ve worn nonstop for years? They’re finally taking a well-deserved breather. And even as someone’s been loyal to the ‘90s minimalist aesthetic, I’m not gonna fight it!!
