The Nick Robinson romance revival is alive and well especially after starring in Netflix’s Voicemails for Isabelleand now he’s bringing it over to the big screen with a new emotional romance that also stars Locke & Key and CODA breakout Emilia Jones.

Cosmopolitan has an exclusive first look at Charlie Harper, a new romance film that is set to be released on September 25. The film follows a couple, Charlie played by Nick and Harper played by Emilia, as they navigate their relationship over the years.

According to the movie’s official description, “Charlie Harper is an emotional modern romance that explores the tension between love, ambition, identity, and personal growth. Through the evolving relationship of Charlie and Harper, the film examines what happens when two people deeply connected to one another begin growing in different directions, forcing them to confront whether love alone is enough.”

Mixtapes, house parties, and a timeline filled with so many memories. Did we mention there’s an emotional rain scene that definitely makes this a must-watch in our list?!

The film comes from first-time directors Mac Eldridge and Tom Dean, with Dean writing the screenplay. It originally premiered at Toronto International Film Festival back in 2025 where it was picked up by distributor Row K.

We’re also revealing the first poster for the film, which features Charlie and Harper looking so madly in love. But as the trailer shows us, is each memory really what they remember them to be? Looks like we’re going to have to tune in to find out!
