Off Campus’s Briar University is basically the platonic ideal of a cozy East Coast college campus, but tragically it is entirely fictional. However! The show wasn’t filmed on a soundstage and instead used real locations in Canada—despite Off Campus taking place in the Boston area.
The University of British Columbia in Vancouver stood in for the Briar University campus, and Condé Nast Traveler reports that specific locations include Doug Mitchell Thunderbird Sports Centre and the Irving K. Barber Learning Centre (where Garrett asks Hannah to tutor him at the beginning of the show). The school’s real-life frat house Sigma Phi Delta was also used for the Briar U hockey players’ fraternity on the show.
Meanwhile, if you’re looking for the real-life Malone’s Bar, you’ll be happy to know it’s also not a set. Welcome to The Heatley in Vancouver, which also has live music at night—just like its onscreen alter ego!
Oh, and meanwhile, Dean’s swanky New York City apartment is apparently a suite in the Douglas, Autograph Collection Hotel. You know, just in case you’re looking for somewhere to vacation/daydream about Dean (daydean?).
