Rihanna and A$AP Rocky are one of the world’s most powerful celebrity couples. From welcoming their three children together to shutting down the Met Gala red carpet every year, they’re truly unstoppable. However, fans are starting to doubt their connection after the “Fashion Killa” rapper made some suggestive comments toward the crowd at his Don’t Be Dumb Tour on Tuesday, June 23.
During the show, which took place at Phoenix’s Mortgage Matchup Center, A$AP looked out at the crowd in between songs, saying, “Thank god y’all didn’t know me when I was single ’cause I would’ve fucked the shit out you if you was pretty.”
The rapper, who’s also gone by the nickname Pretty Flacko over the years for his charms and good looks, raised eyebrows with the flirtatious comment, even if it was just a joke. In a fan-posted clip of the interaction, one TikTok user wrote, “Asap I just know you be stressing my girl Rihanna out.”
Naturally, the Rihanna Navy came to the Grammy winner’s defense, with one fan commenting, “This is so disgusting and disrespectful.” Another referenced Rih’s ex, Drake, adding, “If I were Rih I’d go make a song with Drake after this....cause no.” Someone else even pointed out that A$AP could have taken another route with his crowdwork, writing, “Mind you, ‘y’all look great tonight!’ was an option.”
This all comes after reports of a rumored rift between Rih and Rocky surfaced after the Met Gala last month, when they were recorded in the thick of some seemingly tense interactions at the coveted fashion event.
At the time, a source provided more context to TMZ after the videos went viral, claiming Rih and Rocky weren’t arguing but simply “drained” from the event.
“It was a long day and they were running on empty,” the insider told the outlet, which also claimed that “they’re happy, and people are simply overanalyzing a tired moment.”
All seemed to be well after the fact, when Rih subtly debunked the rumors with a recap video from fashion’s biggest night.
The couple has yet to weigh in on the Phoenix situation, and for all we know, Rih was probably supporting her man backstage or from the crowd. I mean, she was among us common folk in the crowd at New York City’s Governors Ball on June 7, just saying!
