Once summer finally hits, my only goal in life is to look like someone who uses “vacation” as a verb. And the trends required to do so change with each year. Last year, I lived in crochet co-ords and woven hats. The summer before, it was all about understated staples in soft, neutral tones. This year, I’m honoring summer’s most beloved category, and recognizing swimwear for what it is (i.e., the hero of every stylish summer wardrobe).
Considering swimwear a beach-only item only is propaganda I’m absolutely not falling for. Because fashion girls already know that when styled right, a chic swimsuit can actually be the most versatile summer staple in your arsenal. Instead, I’m embodying the Eurocore aesthetic for dinner parties, first dates, and long nights at the club.
In the coming months, you’re going to see a lot of evening outfits that not only include swimwear, but center it, like statement bikinis under sheer dresses or sophisticated one-pieces styled with wide-leg trousers. Looks that will make your friends say “you look like you just got back from Italy,” even if you haven’t seen a grain of sand all summer.
