Charli XCX is smack dab in the middle of her new rock-inspired era and dropped not one, but two new songs in the span of two days (I used to pray for times like these)! The first track, “Rock Music,” has been dividing fans, but the second track, “I Keep On Thinking Bout You Every Single Day,” has Charli’s brats and angels spiraling trying to figure out who tf it could be about, due to its brow raising lyrics.
The lyrics in question that has fans in a twist comes courtesy of the second verse, in which Charli croons, “Now I'm wondering if I maybe could be gay/But come on, look at me, I'm probably not/ I've always wondered if you were actually gay/ Or if that's somеthing you just say for your career.”
Fans on Reddit has an absolutely unhinged theory that the song could be about Taylor Swift amid their somewhat feud—as a refresher, fans largely believe Charli wrote “Sympathy Is a Knife” about Taylor, and Taylor later responded with her track, “Actually Romantic.”
One fan explained that “it makes complete sense” that Charli’s new song could be about Taylor—”she’s alluding to the fact taylor was saying [you’re] obsessed with me [you’re] in love with me “[actually] romantic.” This is a song that appears to be kind of romantic and obsessive but also tongue in cheek.”
Other fans argued that it could be about one of Charli’s well known besties. “Wait…is this song about Julia Fox?” one fan wrote, to which another user replied, “I thought of Rachel Sennott with the whole scene in The Moment where they poke fun at her bisexuality with the brat card lol.”
