此全球研习之盟,意在揭新海族之属,务求其广。曩岁十三征行,九会研讨,此盟孜孜不倦,以辨析新种,分类归之——此般功夫,素来迟缓。

“吾以为,欲速此进程,甚为要也,”谓Michelle Taylor,乃Ocean Census Alliance之科学长。“既得此信息……则可为保育之计,为分类学者之用,为知其存在之本。”

东帝汶之滨,研者得见斑斓长带虫,疑其含毒素,或可治人疾。又于日本之岸,人操潜水器,得见棘刺海绵,其骨为透明如玻璃之硅石所成。其中复有新种透明之虫,名曰多毛虫,供海绵以养。

“其中或有环节动物,亦能发光,[或自照],吾甚爱此意,谓有此晶簇之海绵宫阙,彼辈恐正相视流光也,”泰勒云.
