Lenovo Launches ThinkPad L14 Gen 7 And L16 Gen 3 With Intel And AMD AI Processors
Eliane Fiole · 2026-05-13 · via Ubergizmo

Lenovo’s new ThinkPad L14 Gen 7 and ThinkPad L16 Gen 3 are aimed at companies buying laptops for large teams, not just individual users looking for the thinnest possible machine. The L14 is the more portable 14-inch option, while the L16 gives employees a larger 16-inch screen for desk-heavy hybrid work.

A good fleet laptop needs to be fast enough, easy to manage, durable, repairable, and compatible with office setups that still use wired networking, external monitors, smart cards, and docks.

Both models will be available with Intel Core Ultra Series 3 processors or AMD Ryzen AI PRO 400 Series processors. The Intel and AMD configurations support AI acceleration for local tasks, and Copilot+ PC features on compatible systems, while still focusing on the basics companies care about: security, battery life, manageability, and serviceability.

The ThinkPad L14 Gen 7 comes with a 14-inch WUXGA IPS display, including options up to 500 nits and 100% sRGB. It starts at 1.39kg / 3.06 lbs, making it the easier choice for employees who move between office, home, and customer meetings.

The ThinkPad L16 Gen 3 uses a larger 16-inch WUXGA IPS display rated up to 400 nits. It starts at 1.78kg / 3.93 lbs, trading some portability for more screen workspace. That can be more comfortable for spreadsheets, admin tools, writing, procurement, marketing, and other daily office tasks.

Both models support up to 64GB of DDR5 memory and up to 2TB of PCIe SSD storage. They also include practical ports such as USB-C, USB-A, HDMI, RJ45 Ethernet, audio, and optional support for smart cards and NanoSIMs. Wireless options include Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.4, and 4G LTE WWAN support.

Lenovo is also emphasizing repairability. The L14 and L16 include customer-replaceable parts such as the battery and keyboard, along with accessible memory, SSD, WWAN, and speaker components. For IT departments, this can reduce downtime and help avoid replacing a full laptop when a common part fails.

The new L Series also includes ThinkShield security, MIL-STD-810H durability testing, 5MP and IR camera options, webcam privacy shutters, spill-resistant keyboards, and 100% recycled packaging. Lenovo says the latest ThinkPad systems reach an iFixit repairability score of up to 9 out of 10.

The ThinkPad L14 Gen 7 and ThinkPad L16 Gen 3 are expected to be available in May 2026, with starting prices from $1,439.
