Huawei has officially launched the MatePad Pro Max, a premium device that the company identifies as the world’s thinnest and lightest tablet in the 13-inch-plus category. With a profile measuring only 4.7 mm (0.18 in) in thickness and a weight of 499 g (1.12 lbs), the device aims to compete directly with high-end offerings from Samsung and Apple by prioritizing extreme portability without compromising on display scale.

Display and Design

The tablet features a 13.2-inch 3K flexible OLED panel, characterized by ultra-thin 3.55mm bezels. Technical specifications for the screen include a 144Hz refresh rate, a peak brightness of 1,600 nits, and 1440Hz PWM dimming to reduce eye strain. Huawei also offers a “PaperMatte” edition, which utilizes a specialized anti-glare, paper-like texture, though this version is slightly heavier at 509g.

Engineered for high performance, the MatePad Pro Max reportedly delivers a 20% increase in overall performance compared to the 2025 MatePad Pro. To manage the heat generated within such a slim chassis, Huawei implemented a dual vapor chamber (VC) cooling system. By centrally positioning the mainboard, the architecture allows for a 30% improvement in heat dissipation, ensuring consistent performance during demanding tasks.

Battery and Productivity Features

Powering the device is a 10,400mAh battery, capable of providing approximately 14.5 hours of local video playback. The tablet also supports 40W reverse wireless charging. The hardware suite is rounded out by a 50MP rear camera, a 12MP front-facing camera with a 90-degree field of view, and a six-speaker crossover audio system.

For professional and creative users, the MatePad Pro Max includes:

The Huawei MatePad Pro Max is available in Blue and Space Gray, with pricing starting at £999.99 (~$1,358). More specs should be revealed in the following hours in an event held at Bangkok.

Due to the Hawei ban in the US, this tablet won’t be available for purchase officially; in other words, those who are interested in getting their hands on it will have to resort to importation.
