Da Nang recognized among world's best cities for digital ...
Phong Ngo · 2026-04-06 · via VnExpress English

The coastal Vietnamese city of Da Nang has been named by Forbes as one of the world's top destinations for digital nomads and creators in 2026, thanks to its affordability, strong infrastructure, and laid-back coastal charm.

Rather than prioritizing flexibility alone, digital nomads and creators are increasingly choosing locations with stable infrastructure, professional networks, and opportunities to expand their work.

Such cities typically offer reliable high-speed internet, co-working spaces, and long-term housing, along with access to brands, collaborators, media networks, and events that support visibility and income, according to Forbes.

Da Nang was listed among eight global cities where these conditions are aligning. The coastal city has attracted remote workers with its relatively low cost of living, growing co-working infrastructure, and strong cafe culture, alongside beachfront surroundings.

The report noted that Da Nang offers early access to a developing ecosystem for creators and digital entrepreneurs, positioning it as an emerging hub before reaching saturation.

In Asia, Chiang Mai in Thailand was the only other city included. Long established as a digital nomad destination, it remains popular for its dense network of co-working spaces, cafés, and long-stay accommodation that supports productivity and routine.

In Europe, Lisbon,Portugal, stood out for its digital nomad visa policies and developed infrastructure, including co-living communities and year-round professional and cultural events.

Cape Town, South Africa, was also highlighted for combining natural landscapes with improving remote-work infrastructure, offering both lifestyle appeal and connectivity.

In the Americas, Colombia's Medellin has emerged as a fast-growing destination, driven by a surge in international remote workers and Colombia’s two-year digital nomad visa. Many neighborhoods have developed into integrated ecosystems with co-working spaces and creator communities.

The U.S. accounted for three cities on the list: Austin, Miami, and Asheville. Austin continues to attract creators due to its proximity to tech companies and venture capital, while a cooling housing market has improved accessibility.

Miami has positioned itself as a hub for entrepreneurs and investors, where the creator economy intersects with finance and business opportunities. Asheville offers a quieter, community-driven environment for those seeking a balance between creative work and quality of life.
