"The first fight ever between an Engine and Unitree robot at our new store space in SF," virtual reality creator CIX Liv wrote on X on May 10, alongside a video of the match.

In the clip, the two robots exchange punches and kicks while circling each other and dodging attacks with strong balance, though their movements are relatively slow and most strikes miss their target.

At several points, both robots kick and punch at each other while maintaining balance. In the final exchange, they land hits at the same time and collapse to the floor as a crowd, along with other humanoid robots nearby, cheers them on.

The video has since attracted over a million views and hundreds of comments, while also being reshared across platforms.

"Straight out of a sci-fi movie," one user commented.

Another user, Pinkney, said: "We don't need robots that can fight," adding that robots should instead be taught to do household chores such as loading the dishwasher, doing laundry, or preparing food, according to India's news site NDTV.

CIX later clarified that both robots were remotely controlled by two human operators.

Unitree Robotics’s G1 model, recently launched globally at around $16,000, is equipped with conversational AI and gained worldwide attention after winning the world’s first robot combat competition last year.

Meanwhile, EngineAI introduced its T800 at CES 2026 as a 1.73-meter, 75-kilogram humanoid robot designed for stability. The company said the model starts at $25,000, with first shipments expected in mid-2026.

Liv, also chief executive of Robot Entertainment Kombat, recently announced plans to open what he described as the first "humanoid store in the USA" in San Francisco’s Nob Hill this summer, according to the New York Post.

The store will operate as a retail space during the day, with "robot fights at night."

"We realized that to familiarize people with robots in our lives we must start introducing them," Liv told the San Francisco Chronicle about the shop. "We hope to also have the robots know the people by name so they can talk to our customers."
