






















As AI adoption accelerates worldwide, Vietnam has climbed to second place in Southeast Asia, with 26.5% of its population now using AI tools, according to Microsoft.
Its recently released Global AI Diffusion Report says the 26.5% rate at the end of Q1 2026 was a rise from 23.5% in 2025.
While still far behind regional leader Singapore, which has a 63.4% rate to rank second globally, Vietnam outperforms most other Southeast Asian countries like Malaysia (21.8%), the Philippines (20.1%), and Thailand (12.4%).

Vietnam’s 3 percentage points increase is the largest in the region, surpassing Singapore’s 2.5 points gain.
According to Microsoft, its sustained acceleration in AI adoption has made Vietnam one of the world’s fastest-growing AI economies since June 2025.
"Vietnam is entering a pivotal stage in the AI era," Dhanawat Suthumpun, CEO of Microsoft Emerging Markets, said.
"We are seeing strong momentum from businesses, developer communities, educational institutions, and the public sector in exploring how AI can drive productivity, innovation, and competitiveness.
"As AI becomes the defining technology of the next decade, I believe Vietnam has the potential to emerge as one of Southeast Asia’s most dynamic AI-driven economies."

Asia was among the fastest-growing regions in terms of AI adoption during the quarter.
Microsoft attributed this growth to improvements in AI capabilities for Asian languages, expanding digital infrastructure, and strong uptake among mobile-first users.
