

























The Massachusetts Institute of Technology has placed first in the U.S. News & World Report 2026 ranking for graduate engineering programs, holding the position for 36 consecutive years.

MIT has held the top position in engineering since the ranking were first introduced in 1990, according to MIT News.
It ranks first across several engineering specialties, including aerospace, materials science, mechanical, chemical, and electrical and computer engineering.
Stanford University and University of California, Berkeley placed second and third.
They also share the top position with MIT in electrical engineering programs.
Among the top 30 institutions, 17 are public universities, while the remainder are private. Tuition fees for master’s programs range from US$17,300 to $68,000 per year.

The U.S. News's 2026 Best Engineering Schools ranking, released on Monday, includes 195 schools.
The evaluation is based on five main indicators, with research activity carrying the highest weight at 50%, followed by quality assessment at 25%, faculty resources at 20%, faculty research output at 10%, and student selectivity at 5%.
