Buying a PlayStation 5 in Singapore will cost up to nearly S$100 (US$78.43) more from May 1 after Sony raised recommended retail prices across Southeast Asia.
According to an April 27 update on the official PlayStation Blog, prices for the three versions of the console in Singapore will increase as Sony faces rising costs across its global operations.
The standard PlayStation 5 will be priced at S$849, up from S$799, while the Digital Edition will rise to S$764 from S$669, an increase of more than 14%. The Pro will increase to S$1,167 from S$1,069.
"With continued pressures in the global economic landscape, we’ve made the decision to increase the prices of PS5, PS5 Pro, and PlayStation Portal remote player globally," Isabelle Tomatis, vice-president for global marketing at Sony Interactive Entertainment, said in the blog post.
She added that the move was "a necessary step" to ensure the company could continue delivering "innovative, high-quality gaming experiences" to players worldwide.

Although Sony has set new recommended retail prices, both authorized and unauthorized e-commerce retailers in Singapore often sell the consoles at lower prices, especially during major sales events such as IT Show, according to The Straits Times.
Other Southeast Asian markets including Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, the Philippines and Vietnam will also see new suggested retail prices at the beginning of next month.
Sony has also raised PS5 prices in the U.S., the U.K., Europe and Japan since April.
The increase is unusual for the gaming industry, where consoles have traditionally become cheaper over time as component costs fall, technology site HardwareZone noted. From the original PlayStation to the PlayStation 4, the standard model was to launch at a high price and gradually decline.
Sony had already raised prices for PlayStation Plus subscriptions previously before announcing the latest adjustment.
Meanwhile, sales of the console have been declining. Sony sold around 8.1 million PS5 units in the three months ending Dec. 31, 2025, down from 9.5 million units during the same period in 2024.
