Agibot humanoid robots conduct world-first tablet testing on live factory line

Chinese robotics company Agibot has deployed its G2 humanoid robots on an active consumer electronics production line in China, marking a shift from controlled trials to real-world factory operations.

The company deployed four robots to the assembly line at Longcheer Technology’s tablet facility, describing it as the first large-scale application of embodied AI in core consumer electronics manufacturing processes, according to Interesting Engineering.

The robots operate primarily at Multimedia Integrated Testing stations, where they perform precision tasks such as picking up devices, placing them into testing fixtures, and sorting finished or defective units.

On April 14, the robots completed an eight-hour live-streamed shift, demonstrating the ability to adapt to positional deviations within one centimeter and respond to dynamic disturbances on the production line.

They recalibrated for different product models in as little as five minutes, with line changeover and retraining taking no more than four hours.

Field data showed the G2 model completes each task in 18 to 20 seconds, processing around 310 units per hour with an overall success rate exceeding 99.9%, according to Xinhua News Agency.

"Embodied intelligence is no longer a lab concept, but a genuine driver of productivity that can enter production lines, and create real value," said Yao Maoqing, senior vice president of Agibot. The rollout and potential return on investment could accelerate adoption across industries including consumer electronics, automotive, semiconductors, and energy

Li Long, general manager of Longcheer’s robotics division, said the G2 was integrated into mass production within four months and has accumulated 140 hours of continuous operation. Deployment is expected to expand to 100 units by the third quarter of 2026, he added.

"This deployment represents more than a technical milestone, it marks the first real-world validation of embodied AI in consumer electronics precision manufacturing," he said.

Chinese robotics firms became the world’s largest producers of humanoid robots in 2025, surpassing U.S. competitors.

Shanghai-based Agibot, ranked first in shipments and market share, shipped more than 5,100 units to secure a 39% global humanoid robot market share, according to a report by Omdia in Janurary. It was followed by Unitree Robotics and UBTECH Robotic.
