Automation tag actions
Justin Duke · 2023-09-14 · via Buttondown's blog

Did you know you can add and remove tags in Buttondown’s automation tool?

Triggers, which fall under automation, are a great way to encourage an action (such as a purchase) and connect with your audience on a more personal level. Within our automation tool, there are tags. Tags help you track what is relevant to your subscriber and what is not.

Think about it this way:

Let’s say a fashion designer wants a tag added when new subscribers sign up for their newsletter. They want to create a “new subscriber” tag so that the subscriber automatically gets a “welcome” email. How is this done?

Head to the Tags section in the menu. Click “New” in the upper right-hand corner. Create your tag. Now, mosey on over to the Automation section Click “New” in the upper right-hand corner Add your tag automation.

The reverse can be automated, as well. You might not want the subscriber to be under the “new subscriber” tag after they have been subscribed for a week. Create an automation to remove the tag from the subscriber.

Set it and forget it. Automation takes all of the work off of you so that you can keep creating and growing!
