

























The deadline for organizations to comply with the FTC’s January 2025 amendments to the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (“COPPA”) Rule has arrived. Effective April 22, 2026, entities subject to COPPA must comply with the updated COPPA Rule, which includes (1) a requirement to obtain separate verifiable parental consent to disclose children’s personal information to third parties for targeted advertising or other purposes; (2) new data retention limits; and (3) a broader definition of personal information.
