Securing the Enterprise AI Ecosystem with ServiceNow and Prisma AIRS

The era of enterprise AI is here, fundamentally reshaping how businesses operate, innovate and compete. As organizations increasingly integrate AI into their core workflows to boost productivity, they face a critical challenge: Secure an ever-expanding and complex AI ecosystem.

The very tools that promise unprecedented efficiency can introduce significant risks if not properly managed, from sensitive data exposure to vulnerabilities in the AI models themselves. To empower organizations to navigate this new landscape with confidence, Palo Alto Networks is proud to announce an integration between Prisma AIRS® and ServiceNow, the AI platform for business transformation.

The ServiceNow AI Control Tower provides centralized inventory, application lifecycle and governance for Enterprise AI backed by the ServiceNow CMDB. By combining Prisma AIRS's comprehensive AI security capabilities with ServiceNow's AI Control Tower, we will provide a unified solution for enterprises to accelerate AI adoption securely and responsibly.

Securing AI Workflows and Models for a Defense-in-Depth Approach

The partnership will deliver robust security by integrating Prisma AIRS directly into the ServiceNow platform, focusing on two critical areas – securing runtime AI interactions and protecting the integrity of third-party AI models.

1. Real-Time Protection for AI Workflows with AI Runtime Security™

The ServiceNow AI Platform by ServiceNow uses generative AI to accelerate productivity across the enterprise. While the platform includes robust native safety protocols, the rapid evolution of adversarial AI attacks, (e.g., novel jailbreaks and indirect prompt injections) require a specialized, defense-in-depth security layer.

Why Native Filters Aren't Enough Consider is a scenario where insider, Akira, attempts to use a sophisticated prompt injection to trick a custom HR Assistant into revealing PII. This is data the HR Assistant can access but is instructed not to reveal. Standard algorithms often fail to catch these nuanced manipulations where the attacker disguises their intent.

The Solution: The integration will address this by embedding AI Runtime Security™ with Now Assist Guardian, ServiceNow’s built-in AI guardrail layer. Prisma AIRS will analyze the intent of interactions in real-time. If it detects a sophisticated attempt to bypass safety guardrails, it identifies the threat and signals ServiceNow to block the action immediately.

This seamless, real-time defense enables AI-driven workflows to remain secure against data exfiltration and policy violations without disrupting the user experience.

2. Comprehensive Visibility and Governance with Prisma AIRS Model Security

The proliferation of millions of available open-source and third-party large language models (LLMs) creates a governance challenge for security and IT teams. When developers want to bring these external models into their ServiceNow environment to build custom skills, organizations often lack a centralized way to vet their integrity.

The Solution: This is where the integration with ServiceNow's AI Control Tower comes in. Prisma AIRS AI Model Security will provide detailed risk profiles for these third-party and custom models, performing deep-dive scans and red teaming assessments to identify vulnerabilities before they are deployed.

To create a seamless workflow, this critical security intelligence data generated by Prisma AIRS is surfaced in the ServiceNow AI Control Tower. This will provide AI Governance and CoE (center of excellence) teams with critical security context from Prisma AIRS for their Enterprise AI deployment risk. When an engineering team requests to use a new model in the AI Control Tower, teams can consult the Prisma AIRS vulnerability reports surfaced within ServiceNow Security Operations to make an informed decision, approving only the models that meet the organization's security standards.

Hypothetical scenario of an enterprise risk team requesting an engineering team to use a LLM model.

Enabling Secure AI Adoption at Scale

The native integration of Prisma AIRS within the ServiceNow platform transforms AI security from a complex hurdle into a seamless enabler of innovation. Security teams gain centralized visibility and control, while developers and employees can leverage the full power of AI with the confidence that robust guardrails are in place.

By combining the leadership of Palo Alto Networks in AI security with ServiceNow's powerful AI platform, we will provide the essential foundation for businesses to accelerate their AI journey. This partnership enables you to scale your AI initiatives securely, responsibly and with complete confidence.
