CIOs and CTOs in the AI era continue to evolve what they need and look for as they build up IT team leaders.
Technical skills and management styles that served well in the past must now be refined for a market that wants lightning-fast action with AI — even if the long-term ROI remains murky.
In this episode of the InformationWeek Podcast, Marc Kermisch, chief AI and technology officer at Protolabs; Art Hu, global CIO at Lenovo; and Joe Papp, CTO at Anthro Energy, talk about how they have updated their approaches to building up leaders within their IT teams to answer these shifting challenges.
They discuss how new hires with fresh ideas might change the trajectory for teams, how they address issues such as team members who struggle to adapt to AI, whether or not mandates on tokenmaxxing are constructive, and which skills are relevant to developing forward-looking teams.
Then the panelists take on roles as interim executives with the fictional company Questionable Ideas in a series of tabletop scenarios dealing with the draconian and chaotic IT plans of goblins, kobolds and gremlins.
