Qualcomm is the latest business to tell their customers that it doesn’t matter if they want an “AI agent” following them around or not, they are going to get one. The fact that no one outside of investors and companies dependant on the growth of the AI market actually wants an all encompassing agent which “isn’t tied to the device, it actually moves with the user” does not matter. The thought that “6G is going to make all of us into walking cameras in this world” is apparently something Qualcomm feels we will just have to accept.
Indeed, in Qualcomm’s planned world 6G will be embedded in everything and “You’re going to detect on every road, every car, every bicycle, every truck, every pedestrian,” he explained. “You can actually identify those objects.” While the various Qualcomm executives crowed about the wonders of their imagined Panopticon, they skipped out on mentioned anything about securing those devices.
This is just the beginning of their revelations, Qualcomm will also have an Investors Day on June 26th where they will feel even less constrained by public opinion than at Computex, where that direct quote is from.
