Washington provides hope for GT's fragile middle order
The search for a reliable option by GT for its fragile middle order might finally be over. In the last game against PBKS during the chase, GT’s top three, comprising Sai Sudharsan, Shubman Gill, and Jos Buttler were dismissed with the side still needing quite a few runs to win the match.
GT’s overreliance on the top three has hurt them and cost them more than a few games but against PBKS, Washington Sundar, who has been entrusted with the number 4 position this season, played a matchwinning 40 to take his side home, when the top three as a collective had an off day.
Promising signs for GT and the management will hope Washington can continue his good form with the bat against RR tonight.
