elcome to Sportstar’s highlights of the IPL 2026 Eliminator between Sunrisers Hyderabad and Rajasthan Royals in New Chandigarh on May 27!

  • Signing off!

Right, that’s the last from us for tonight, join us in two days time when Rajasthan Royals takes on Gujarat Titans in Qualifier 2!

    Good night!

  • Eliminator, IPL 2026: Sooryavanshi, Archer exploits help Rajasthan Royals book place in Qualifier 2

Eliminator, IPL 2026: Sooryavanshi, Archer exploits help Rajasthan Royals book place in Qualifier 2

Rajasthan Royals advance to IPL 2026 Qualifier 2 after Sooryavanshi's explosive innings and Archer's stellar bowling performance.

  • Rajasthan Royals wins by 47 runs

A massive, massive victory for Rajasthan Royals, started by Vaibhav Sooryavanshi and ended by Jofra Archer. His figures for tonight, 3/58, may not look the most impressive but he brought the fire early on to remove Travis Head, Abhishek Sharma, and Ishan Kishan, becoming the first bowler to remove all three inside the PowerPlay.

Yash Raj Punja continued his emergence with the dismissal of Heinrich Klaasen, and from that point onwards, things were only ever going one way. Everyone picked up a wicket or two, and Rajasthan Royals has sealed a date with Gujarat Titans in Qualifier 2 two days from now!

For SRH, a season of what could have been now. It has played brilliantly all season, and only missed out on Qualifier 1 by an incredibly slim margin, but it was just outplayed on the night. Still, more than a few positives to take from tonight for Pat Cummins and Co.

  • SRH Live Score: 196 all out in 19.2 overs

Sushant to close it out, starts with a wide. Surely just try and hit the stumps? Swing and a miss. Thick edge, and Sooryavanshi completes the catch despite his best efforts to seal a 47-run victory for Rajasthan Royals!

RR breaks its SRH hoodoo at the time when it mattered the most!

  • SRH Live Score: 195/9 in 19 overs

Brijesh Sharma now, and Shivang crunches it just short of long-on! Batter down now, Shivang has cramp! He seems it some real discomfort here. He’s fine now, tries to ramp and miscues it for one. Sakib misses a wild slog and wears it on the body. Inside edge for one. Full toss from Brijesh, SRH reviews for a no-ball.

It is in fact a no-ball, so Sakib has a free hit which he misses. Misses again to end the over.

  • SRH Live Score: 191/9 in 18 overs

Burger now, Malinga gets an edge to third for one. Patted away for one. Malinga skies one, Archer settles under it at mid-off and completes the catch! RR one ball away now.

Eshan Malinga c Jofra Archer b Nandre Burger 5 (8b)

Sakib Hussain is the last man out, misses the ball entirely. Wow, he’s battered it over mid-off for four! Sakib has enjoyed that. Sliced away for, oh no run. The batters opt not to run.

  • SRH Live Score: 185/8 in 17 overs

Right, here’s Jofra Archer now. He’s hit 150 today, my gut instinct is that Eshan Malinga may not see some of these. He’s done well there, chipped over the infield but he opts not to scamper back for two. Oh nice shot by Shivang, carved past third for four! And now he’s belted it over mid-off for four more! Slung over leg for two more now! Archer will be fuming now. And now pulled for four! Shivang is having some fun now. Wide down leg now. Swing and a miss to end the over, Archer ends a fine night with maybe worse figures than he has bowled.

  • SRH Live Score: 169/8 in 16 overs

Yash Raj Punja to bowl out. Shivang takes one. Malinga misses the cut. And again. Finally cuts for one. Shivang again takes one. Eshan chips it up into the air for one, end of another fine night’s work from Yash Raj Punja.

  • SRH Live Score: 165/8 in 15 overs

Jadeja again, starts with a wide. Thrown wide again, Salil gets an inside edge for one. Pulled for one. Wide down leg. Tossed up, and Salil lumps it straight for six! Thrown wider, and this time Salil has sliced it to deep cover! His valiant hand comes to a close, and RR is almost there now.

Salil Arora c Nandre Burger b Ravindra Jadeja 35 (21b)

Eshan Malinga is in, and he’s pumped it to leg for two. Brijesh Sharma charges around to stop it, slips, and ends up stopping it with his shoulder. Shivang takes a single to end the over.

  • SRH Live Score: 153/7 in 14 overs

Archer has one left, will Parag go for the kill? Yash Raj Punja for now, Shivang pulls for one. Wide down leg. Salil top-edges it, but it lands in no-man’s land for one. Defended back to the bowler. Pulled for one more. Salil defends to point. Slammed straight for one to end the over.

  • SRH Live Score: 148/7 in 13 overs

For what it’s worth SRH are in touch with the required run rate. Jadeja gets a second, Shivang punches straight for one. Salil advances, Jadeja throws it wide and the batter reacts well. Chopped to short cover. Picks out the fielder again. Smashed to deep cover. Punched straight to end a typically brisk Jadeja over.

  • SRH Live Score: 145/7 in 12 overs

Sushant again, starts with a wide. Back of a length, Cummins slogs over leg, but Archer charges around from long-on to take a superb catch in front of the boundary!

Pat Cummins c Jofra Archer b Sushant Mishra 1 (2b)

Shivang is the new batter, starts with a short ball called wide. Shivang misses a wide yorker. Short again, let go by the batter. Punched to the sweeper for one. High full toss patted to point, where Sooryavanshi lets it through his legs. Jadeja chargers around to clean up the mess and save one. Run fine to finish the over.

  • SRH Live Score: 138/6 in 11 overs

Ten overs to go, SRH is not out of this at all. Here is Jadeja, Salil cuts for one. Nitish taps two away. Backs away and slaps it to long-off. Salil gets one more. Tossed up, Nitish tries to slog-sweep but finds deep midwicket, where Shanaka takes a fine catch! Sends him off with the Pushpa celebration for good measure!

Nitish Kumar Reddy c Dasun Shanaka b Ravindra Jadeja 38 (20b)

Pat Cummins, once holder of the fastest IPL fifty, comes to the crease. Guided to short third for one.

  • SRH Live Score: 132/5 in 10 overs

Brijesh with his second. Salil on strike, picks up the slot delivery off his pads for SIX! SRH are counter attacking here! Pierces the short delivery in the gap between the two fielders on the leg side for FOUR!

Oooh Brijesh rolls his arm over and bowls it just outside the wide line outside off stump. Bouncer from Brijesh, Salil knocks it to deep square leg for a single.

Ooooh pace off delivery hits the inside half of Nitish’s bat, single on the leg side. Absolutely clobbers the half volley past the bowlers head for FOUR!

Salil knocks it on the off side for a single.

  • SRH Live Score: 114/5 in 9 overs

Punja with his second. Pitches it up, Nitish hits it to long on for a single. Googly from Punja, Salil takes a single on the leg side.

Nitish makes room and heaves it over covers for FOUR! Nitish taps it to covers, dot ball. Nice shot from Nitish, pulls the short delivery over deep mid wicket for SIX!

Cheeky from Nitish, gets all of the reverse sweep, and its SIX MORE!

  • SRH Live Score: 96/5 in eight overs

Sushant Mishra is the new bowler for RR. Too much width and Nitish hits it over covers for FOUR! Nitish thumps the outside off short delivery past the bowler for FOUR MORE! Cracking shot!

Pace off delivery, much better line from Sushant, Nitish guides it to short third for a quick single. Direct hit would have been close at the strikers end. Salil taps it on the off side for another quick single, good running from the pair.

Nitish pulls the slower bouncer to deep square leg for two runs, again good running from the two batters.

Nitish drills the slot ball to long off for a single.

  • SRH Live Score: 83/5 in seven overs

Yash Raj Punja is into the attack. Starts with a short one, Nitish waits on it and pulls it to deep mid wicket for a single.

Klaasen knocks it to long off for a single. Nitish tries the sweep behind square, its a wide down leg side nevertheless.

Punja flights it, Nitish sweeps it to cow corner for a single. Klaasen makes room and sends it over long off of his back foot for SIX!

Klaasen tries the reverse sweep but he misses and is hit on his pads, RR appeal loudly for the LBW but no reaction from the umpire. The Royals take the review.

Three reds and Klaasen is gone! Is that the match for Rajasthan Royals?

Heinrich Klaasen lbw b Yash Raj Punja 18(10) [4s-2 6s-1]

Salil Arora is the new batter for SRH. Gets off the mark with a single, make that two runs with the overthrow.

Knuckle ball from Brijesh, Klaasen hooks it on the leg side behind square for FOUR! Klaasen pulls it past mid wicket, fielder from long on intercepts and keeps it down to two runs.

Archer with his third. Starts with a dot ball. Head makes room and finds the big empty space on the off side again for FOUR!

Head goes again but finds the fielder at point, dot ball. Archer castles Head’s off stump! SRH four down!

    Travis Head b Jofra Archer 17(8) [4s-2 6s-1]

Nitish Reddy is the new batter for SRH, who are in big big trouble. Will take something miraculous for them to win from here. Gets off the mark with a single.

Nice shot from Klaasen, cuts it on the off side off his back foot for FOUR!

  • SRH Live Score: 53/3 in four overs

Burger with his second. Smaran taps the length ball to covers, dot ball. Oooh Smaran charges and swings, misses out, dot ball.

Oooh tries the pull on the bouncer, misses out. Nevermind it was too high and wide is called.

Smaran top edges the length ball to mid on and SRH ARE THREE DOWN NOW! RR IN COMPLETE CONTROL!

Smaran Ravichandran c Jofra Archer b Nandre Burger 1(4)

Burger to bowl the second. Angles the length ball to Head’s body, the Australian guides it on the leg side for a two runs. Wide down leg side shapes away from the keeper, beats everybody, FOUR WIDES!

Head slogs the short ball to deep square leg for a single. Burger bowls a length delivery outside off, Kishan taps it to covers, dot ball. Burger nails the tight line and length, Kishan defends to long on and takes a quick single.

Head absolutely creams the bouncer for a flat six over the head of deep square leg! Too much width on offer and Head drills it in the empty space between covers and mid off for FOUR!

  • SRH Live Score: 16/1 in 1 over

Abhishek Sharma and Travis Head walk out to begin the chase for SRH. A huge target ahead of them no doubt but if there’s any team that can overhaul the total, its SRH.

Archer takes the new ball for RR. Abhishek on strike, first ball, ooooh starts with a mishit, ball falls just short of mid off.

And Abhishek is gone! Bouncer to the body and Abhishek nicks to the keeper! Archer strikes again in the first over!

Abhishek Sharma c Dhruv Jurel b Jofra Archer 0(2)

Ishan Kishan is the new batter. Straight up on the hook, but the ball falls safe of the fielder at deep square leg, two runs.

Oh shot from Kishan! Picks it up off his pads for a SIX! Kishan goes for the big drive, thick outside edge flies past the head of first slip for FOUR!

Archer pitches it up and Kishan carves it past point for FOUR! What an eventful first over we’ve had!

  • Sunrisers Hyderabad needs 244 runs to win

A study in contrast if there ever was one. An innings which started with a bang ends with a whimper, and Sunrisers Hyderabad is firmly in this contest.

The first half of the innings was all about one man, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, who made the SRH bowlers look utterly clueless as he carted them around the park for 97 from 29 balls. Dhruv Jurel and Riyan Parag also played some breezy cameos to keep the scoring up.

The second half, however, was a slowdown of almighty proportions. The rest of RR batters huffed and puffed to add anything, and seemed intent on running only twos in order to play out the innings. As it so happened, that strategy didn’t work, and it went from 207/3 to 243/8 in the final five overs.

It is of course a hefty score on the board, but RR has neglected the opportunity to bat this brutal SRH batting lineup out of the game. Will it be able to defend this total? Stay with us to find out.

  • RR Live Score: 243/8 in 20 overs

Sakib to close out the innings, Jadeja plinks it for one. Burger cuts for one. In fact, they’ve tried to go back for two and Burger has been run out! Poor, poor cricket from Rajasthan Royals here.

Nandre Burger run out (Malinga/Ishan Kishan) 1 (1b)

RR has played its Impact Player, Sushant Mishra replaces Jaiswal. Starts with an airshot, Jadeja hasn’t even tried for a bye. Swing and a miss again. Pushed for one. Two byes to end the innings.

  • RR Live Score: 19th over

Nitish to bowl the penultimate over, Ferreira digs it out and charges off for two! Kishan breaks the stumps and he’s short of his ground!

Donovan Ferreira run out (Shivang Kumar/†Ishan Kishan) 12 (9b)

Jofra Archer is in. Can he land a few blows to close out the innings? Smacks one to extra-cover to start. Nails the wide yorker. Full toss, and Archer smacks it past extra-cover for four! Perfect wide yorker again, where has this been all this time? Is that out? Archer goes dead straight and Abhishek takes the catch, but has he touched the rope! The umpires check it, but he’s done well enough to get his feet back in time.

Jofra Archer c Abhishek Sharma b Nitish Kumar Reddy 4 (5b)

  • RR Live Score: 233/5 in 18 overs

Cummins is going to bowl out. Ferreira clips it to leg and sets off for a difficult two. Fielder gathers well but throws to the wrong end. Slapped straight for one. Cut to point, and the fielder fumbles to allow two. Plinked away for two more. Pulled into the gap for yet another two, scoring runs the hard way. Attempted yorker, and Jadeja gets an edge past short fine for four!

  • RR Live Score: 220/5 in 17 overs

Malinga to bowl out, and he’ll have his Sri Lankan captain first ball! Slogged high into the air, and long-on settles under the catch.

Dasun Shanaka c Abhishek Sharma b Eshan Malinga 5 (3b)

Jadeja is the new batter, punched back to the bowler. Pulled straight to midwicket. Gets off the mark with a hoick for one. Thick edge past the keeper for four! Driven straight for one, superb from Malinga.

  • RR Live Score: 214/4 in 16 overs

Hinge again, Parag misses the slog over leg. Holes out now! Tried to go over long-on, but too flat! Brave, brisk hand from Parag, deserves plenty of credit for that.

Riyan Parag c Heinrich Klaasen b Praful Hinge 26 (12b)

Right, as some might say, time to accelerate! Sakib for now, Parag gets a leading edge for two. He’s moving pretty gingerly. Chipped straight for one. Ferreira punches one. Three balls without an attacking shot, probably the longest we’ve gone without one in this match.

There’s one now! Parag looks to swing, and gets a leading edge over third for four! 200 up for RR now. Slower ball into the wicket, and Parag lugs it over midwicket for six! Brilliant shot! Thick edge to short fine to end the over.

  • RR Live Score: 151/2 in 11 overs

Shivang again, Jurel sweeps for one. Time to get a move on, I’d say. Jaiswal tries to do so, and picks out long-off after running down the wicket!

Yashasvi Jaiswal c Abhishek Sharma b Shivang Kumar 29 (29b)

A slightly painful innings comes to an end for Jaiswal. Riyan Parag is in at four, he’s not fully fit, so he may well come out swinging. Punched for one. Six! He can hit a six though, hoicked over midwicket!

Dot ball follows. Dot ball to finish.

  • RR Live Score: 129/1 in 9 overs

97 off 29 balls from Sooryavanshi, let that sink in. Absolutely speechless. Jurel is the new batter for RR. Shivang Kumar is the new bowler for SRH. Three singles off the first four balls. Four of the first over from Shivang.

  • RR Live Score: 125/1 in 8 overs

Hinge to bowl the eighth. Jaiswal drives it square for a single. Sooryavanshi flicks it off his pads over deep square leg for SIX! Sooryavanshi is looking unstoppable tonight, the onslaught continues!

UNREAL SCENES, HE’S ON COURSE TO BREAK THE RECORD FOR THE FASTEST CENTURY NOW! MAKE THAT SIX MORE! HE’S ON 97 OFF 28 BALLS!

NOOOOOO SOORYAVANSHI, SO CLOSE YET SO FAR! HOLES OUT TO DEEP THIRD AND HE WAS TO WALK BACK! SOORYAVANSHI IS ABSOLUTELY HEARTBROKEN! WHAT AN INNINGS, TAKE A BOW VAIBHAV!

    Vaibhav Sooryavanshi c Smaran Ravichandran b Praful Hinge 97(29) [4s-5 6s-12]

  • RR Live Score: 96/0 in 7 overs

Hussain with his second. Sooryavanshi takes a single on the off side. Bouncer and Jaiswal guides it past the keeper’s head for FOUR! The runs continue to flow for RR, more misery for SRH!

Hussain nails the tight line and length, Jaiswal defends, dot ball. Pace off length delivery from Hussain, Jaiswal guides it to short backward point for a single, direct hit at the striker’s end but Sooryavanshi is safe.

Sooryavanshi deposits the pace off short delivery on the leg side for FOUR! Sooryvanshi goes again, behind square this time! SIX MORE!

  • RR Live Score: 80/0 in 6 overs

Hinge pitches it up, Jaiswal charges and drills it to covers for a single. Low full toss from Hinge, Sooryavanshi clobbers it to deep square leg for a single.

Ooooh middle stump yorker, Jaiswal squeezes it to short backward point. What an over from Hinge, amidst all that carnage, produces a six run over.

  • RR Live Score: 74/0 in 5 overs

Eshan Malinga is back into the attack. Jaiswal, who has played second fiddle so far, joins the party with a FOUR THROUGH THE OFF SIDE! Jaiswal takes a single.

Rare boundary from Sooryavanshi, opens the face of the bat and carves it over covers for FOUR!

Low full toss from Malinga, Sooryavanshi knocks it to long on for a single. Malinga pitches it up, Jaiswal drives, brilliant stop by Cummins at mid off to keep it down to one.

  • RR Live Score: 63/0 in four overs

Sakib Hussain is into the attack. Sooryavanshi on strike, in a serious six hitting mood tonight. Good ball to start, leg stump yorker, Sooryavanshi defends. And the next ball goes for SIX! Inside out from Sooryavanshi!

Ooooh Sooryavanshi is hungry for more, tries to go again but its a swing and a miss, Hussain bowls that just inside the wide line.

Well-disguised pace off short delivery from Hussain, completely deceives Sooryavanshi.

And the record is broken for most sixes! Vaibhav Sooryavanshi take a bow! Power hitting of the highest order!

That’s the biggest of the night! Ball lands on the third tier behind square! AND THAT’S A 16 BALL 50 FOR SOORYAVANSHI! MY WORD HAVE WE BEEN ENTERTAINED TONIGHT!

  • RR Live Score: 45/0 in 3 overs

Cummins to continue. Jaiswal drives, good stop by the fielder at covers to keep it down to one. Oh the ploy to position a straighter mid off does not work! Sooryavanshi drills it in the gap which would have gone straight into the hands of the regular mid off!

Bouncer from Cummins, Sooryavanshi tries to upper cut it but does not connect. Hold your pose Vaibhav! Cummins misses his length and Sooryavanshi sends it straight past the bowler with a beautiful lofted straight drive for SIX!

Sooryavanshi upper cuts it now for SIX MORE! Sooryavanshi is three away from breaking the record for most sixes by a player in an IPL season!

Pace off delivery from Cummins makes no difference! Its raining sixes from the bat of Sooryavanshi!

Great comeback from Cummins, bowls a leg stump yorker, Sooryavanshi can only take a single.

  • RR Live Score: 20/0 in 2 overs

Eshan Malinga to bowl the second. Jaiswal defends first ball. Jaiswal with a wild swipe, thick outside edge flies past the head of short third for FOUR!

Ooooh peach of delivery to beat the outside edge of Jaiswal, gets the extra bounce off the pitch. Woah, Malinga bowls a pacy short delivery, catches Jaiswal slightly off guard but manages to get it to deep backward square leg for a single.

Oooooh full toss from Malinga and Sooryavanshi fails to get bat on that, hits his pads. Oh that’s massive! Uses the pace on the bouncer and sends it way back past short fine for SIX!

  • RR Live Score: 9/0 in 1 over

Jaiswal and Sooryavanshi walk out to open the batting for RR. Cummins takes the new ball for SRH. Jaiswal on strike, first slip in place.

First ball, Cummins pitches it up, Jaiswal drives it straight to the stumps at the non striker’s end, dot ball. Leg stump half volley drifts onto Jaiswal’s pads, RR take a single.

Cummins nails the yorker first up, Sooryavanshi defends, dot ball. Sooryavanshi drives it covers for a single. Width on offer from Cummins, Jaiswal frees his arms and cuts it agggresively, but the fielder is positioned correctly at deep square leg, single.

Sooryavanshi has taken off, SIX DOWN THE GROUND! Took him three deliveries, late by his standards.

  • RR to bat first

Right, so the Royals will bat first in this all important Eliminator clash where the loser will go home. Mullanpur has been a high scoring, chasing friendly ground this season meaning its advantage SRH even before the first ball has been bowled.

RR will need a big score on the board to stand a chance on a wicket that’s absolutely ‘flat’ and the onus will be on its destructive opening pair of Vaibhav Sooryavanshi and Yashasvi Jaiswal to provide the goods.

Which team will head to Qualifier 2 and face Gujarat Titans? Stay tuned to find out, first innings to begin shortly.

  • Rajasthan Royals Impact Player options

Shubham Dubey, Sushant Mishra, Aman Rao, Ravi Bishnoi, Tushar Deshpande.

  • Rajasthan Royals playing XI

Yashasvi Jaiswal, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, Dhruv Jurel (wk), Riyan Parag (c), Donovan Ferreira, Dasun Shanaka, Ravindra Jadeja, Jofra Archer, Nandre Burger, Brijesh Sharma, Yash Raj Punja.

  • Sunrisers Hyderabad Impact Player options

Aniket Verma, Salil Arora, Liam Livingstone, Harsh Dubey, Harshal Patel.

  • Sunrisers Hyderabad playing XI

Abhishek Sharma, Travis Head, Ishan Kishan (wk), Heinrich Klaasen, R. Smaran, Nitish Kumar Reddy, Pat Cummins, Shivang Kumar, Eshan Malinga, Sakib Hussain, Praful Hinge.

  • Sunrisers Hyderabad wins the toss and opts to bowl first

And so to the middle! Pat Cummins and Riyan Parag come out for the toss, the coin gets a flick, and it lands in favour of Cummins! Sunrisers Hyderabad wins the toss and opts to bowl first.

Says his team is coming off some really good cricket, and that he wants his bowlers to keep things simple. Praful Hinge comes back in.

Parag said RR would have preferred to bowl first, but that his team will look to change history. Good memories of this ground. He’s fit to play. Jadeja comes into the XI, Dubey will be the Impact Player.

  • Pitch report

There is a clear bias on the ground tonight, with one side nearly 10m longer than the other.

“Absolutely flat” says Aaron Finch of the pitch. He says that there might be a bit of seam movement early on, but that it looks like a belter of a wicket. Chase if you win the toss, he says.

  • A tall task for Yash Raj Punja

The incredibly tall frame of leggie Yash Raj Punja has been one of the major positives for Rajasthan Royals this year. The Dubai-born tweaker has bowled impressively and bravely through the middle-overs for RR, and has accounted for a number of high-profile names with his bowling already.

He will, however, have his work cut out for him tonight up against a number of destructive hitters of spin including Abhishek Sharma, Ishan Kishan, and Heinrich Klaasen.

  • Could Ferreira bowl tonight?

The SRH batting line-up has four powerful left-handers (Abhishek Sharma, Travis Head, Ishan Kishan, and R. Smaran), and RR will thus be tempted to use a right-arm off-spinner as a matchup option against them.

Captain Riyan Parag is unlikely to be fit enough to bowl himself, but he could throw the ball to South African Donovan Ferreira, who bowls some handy off-breaks himself.

  • Who takes the new ball for SRH?

Sunrisers Hyderabad has shown itself to be adept at bowling with the older ball, but it has not always made optimal use of the new ball this year. With its gameplan undoubtedly focussed on dismissing Vaibhav Sooryavanshi early, it will thus need to calibrate its new-ball plans to perfection tonight.

Captain Pat Cummins will take the new ball from one end, but who will partner him? Praful Hinge announced himself on the IPL stage in spectacular fashion in the first meeting between this pair but travelled the distance in the second, while Eshan Malinga took it last time.

Could it even look to another option like Sakib Hussain or Nitish Kumar Reddy?

  • Kishan's remarkable record in SRH vs RR matches

Perhaps the most daunting task facing Rajasthan Royals is accounting for Ishan Kishan. The SRH number three has an incredible record representing SRH against RR, having scored 271 runs in three innings at an average of 135.5 and strike-rate of 222.13.

  • RR squad- Strengths and Weaknesses

Strength- Aruguably its top order, especially its opening pair of Vaibhav Sooryavanshi and Yashasvi Jaiswal

Weakness- The middle order batting has been below par this season. In matches where the opening pair has failed, the rest of the batting unit has failed to step up more often than not.

  • SRH squad- Strengths and Weaknesses

Strength- SRH’s batting performance this season has been second to none. Three of its batters, namely Abhishek Sharma, Ishan Kishan and Heinrich Klaasen have scored more than 500 runs this season and RR will have its task cut out if the trio manage to get going tonight.

Weakness- The lack of a genuine new ball bowler has hurt the team. On top of that, it remains to be seen if its inexperienced bowling lineup will be able to cope with the pressure in tonight’s clash.

  • Can RR snap its losing streak against SRH?

Here are the results of the last six meetings between Sunrisers Hyderabad and Rajasthan Royals: SRH-6, RR-0.

SRH got the better of RR in both games between the two sides but all that will amount to nothing as both teams start with a clean slate in the Eliminator tonight.

However, with that being said, the only time RR locked horns with SRH in the Eliminator- way back in 2013- it was the Royals that came out on top.

  • Archer holds the key for Rajasthan Royals

Jofra Archer’s performance in the last match against Mumbai Indians underlines just how important the English quick is to RR’s successes.

His form with the new ball is of particular importance to RR, having taken eight wickets at 17.12 in the PowerPlay in the games the side has won compared to three wickets at 44 in the matches it has lost.

Thus, Archer’s battle with the SRH top-order of Abhishek Sharma, Travis Head, and Ishan Kishan becomes crucial in tonight’s match.

  • Runs on offer tonight

Most of the focus coming into this match has been on the destructive capabilities of the batters on display, and if recent history is anything to go by, the conditions are likely to favour them tonight.

200 has been breached in six of the eight innings played on this ground in 2026, and in the last match played on tonight’s pitch Rajasthan Royals hauled down well in excess of 220 against Punjab Kings.

  • The case for Harsh Dubey

Harsh Dubey has shot into national prominence after his call-up to the national team for its Test and ODI series’ against Afghanistan, and he has impressed in his outings for SRH this year as well.

SRH will be wary of exposing him to the destructive capabilities of Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, but if it can dismiss him early, Dubey could be a strong match-up against Dhruv Jurel, who has struggled to find a tempo against spin this year.

  • The battle of the southpaws- Travishek vs JaiSoorya

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi and Yashasvi Jaiswal for RR and Abhishek Sharma and Travis Head for SRH, two of the most destructive opening pairs in the IPL, will lock horns in the Eliminator.

In a season which has been defined by PowerPlays, which opening pair fares better could ultimately decide the outcome of tonight’s contest.

  • RR probable playing XII

Yashasvi Jaiswal, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, Dhruv Jurel (wk), Riyan Parag ( c ), Dasun Shanaka, Donovan Ferreira, Jofra Archer, Shubham Dubey, Ravindra Jadeja, Nandre Burger, Yash Raj Punja, Brijesh Sharma

  • SRH probable playing XII

Travis Head, Abhishek Sharma, Ishan Kishan (wk), Heinrich Klaasen, Nitish Kumar Reddy, R. Smaran, Salil Arora, Shivang Kumar, Pat Cummins, Harsh Dubey, Sakib Hussain, Eshan Malinga.

  • Sooryavanshi's debut in Playoffs

RR’s teenage sensation Vaibhav Sooryvanshi, who has set the stage alight this season with some unreal power hitting will play in the IPL playoffs for the first time ever against Sunrisers Hyderabad in the Eliminator tonight.

In the last meeting between the two sides, Sooryavanshi smashed his second IPL century, off just 37 balls and all eyes will be on the youngster and whether he can replicate the same fireworks under pressure in the Eliminator tonight.

  • RR full squad

Yashasvi Jaiswal, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, Dhruv Jurel(w), Riyan Parag(c), Donovan Ferreira, Shubham Dubey, Dasun Shanaka, Jofra Archer, Nandre Burger, Yash Raj Punja, Brijesh Sharma, Ravindra Jadeja, Sushant Mishra, Aman Rao Perala, Ravi Bishnoi, Tushar Deshpande, Adam Milne, Sandeep Sharma, Shimron Hetmyer, Kuldeep Sen, Yudhvir Singh Charak, Kwena Maphaka, Lhuan-dre Pretorius, Emanjot Singh Chahal, Vignesh Puthur

  • SRH full squad

Abhishek Sharma, Travis Head, Ishan Kishan(w), Heinrich Klaasen, Salil Arora, Smaran Ravichandran, Nitish Kumar Reddy, Pat Cummins(c), Shivang Kumar, Eshan Malinga, Sakib Hussain, Praful Hinge, Aniket Verma, Liam Livingstone, Harsh Dubey, Harshal Patel, Jaydev Unadkat, Kamindu Mendis, Zeeshan Ansari, Gerald Coetzee, Dilshan Madushanka, Krains Fuletra, Onkar Tarmale, RS Ambrish, Amit Kumar

  • The equation for the Playoffs- What next for the winner and the loser of tonight's contest?

Tonight’s Eliminator match between Sunrisers Hyderabad and Rajasthan Royals is a knockout game as the loser will take no further part in the competition.

The winner will progress to Qualifier 2 and face Gujarat Titans on May 29, for a place in the final against Royal Challengers Bengaluru on May 31.

  • Purple Cap Leaderboard- Bhuvi, Rabada top the charts

RCB’s Bhuvneshwar Kumar and GT’s Kagiso Rabada are one and two in the IPL 2026 Purple Cap Leaderboard.

Its been neck and neck between the two fast bowlers all throughout the season and there’s nothing to separate the two fast bowlers, having picked 26 wickets apiece. But an inferior economy rate for Rabada puts him behind Bhuvneshwar.

RR’s Jofra Archer, who single handedly helped his team qualify for the knockout stages, is third with 21 wickets.

CSK’s Anshul Kamboj and GT’s Rashid Khan round out the top five with 21 and 19 wickets respectively.

  • Orange cap Leaderboard- Sudharsan leads the way, Gill follows closely behind

With just three games to go, Gujarat Titans opening pair of Sai Sudharsan and Shubman Gill continue to top the IPL 2026 Orange Cap Leaderboard.

Sudharsan leads the way with 652 runs, while Gill follows behind with 618 runs.

SRH’s Heinrich Klaasen, who will get a chance to improve his tally in the Eliminator, is third with 606 runs.

RCB’s Virat Kohli and DC’s KL Rahul round out the top five, with 600 and 593 runs respectively.
