On the night of May 6-7, 2025, two weeks after the Pahalgam attack in which gunmen killed 26 tourists at a meadow in Anantnag district, India launched missile strikes on nine sites in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. The package also covers the civilians along the border villages who bore the costs, the populations caught in the drone warfare that followed, the saffronisation of military nomenclature, and what a military confrontation between two nuclear-armed states means for the region.
