TMB Foundation in partnership with M.S. Swaminathan Research Foundation (MSSRF), conducted a high-level stakeholder consultation meeting here, as part of the project “Empowering Small-Scale Fishers through an Integrated Village Development Approach for Sustainable Livelihood Enhancement.”

The project aims to strengthen the coastal communities of Keela Vaippar and Pattinamarudhur in Thoothukudi district.

At the seminar, the discussions centred on key coastal livelihood challenges, including access to entitlements, insurance, financial services, market linkages, welfare schemes, livelihood diversification, career opportunities, sanitation and dedicated marketing space for community based products.

At the event, S. Velvizhi, area director of fisheries and livelihoods, MSSRF emphasised the integrated nature of the project, which combines livelihood enhancement, welfare access, market development, infrastructure strengthening and institutional support to create sustainable impact.

M. Muthiah, CEO, TMB Foundation highlighted the role of institutional collaboration in achieving sustainable coastal development. Outlining other ongoing initiatives by the foundation, he reaffirmed TMB Foundation’s commitment to integrated community development across southern districts.
