Nandyal MP Byreddy Shabari took on the role of an anganwadi teacher on Saturday, engaging with the children by playing games, singing, practicing handwriting, and conducting picture recognition activities.

Ms. Shabari inspected two anganwadi centres at Kothapalli village in Nandyal mandal and reviewed the facilities provided by the government for expectant mothers, pregnant women, and young children, as well as the services offered and the nutritional food distribution system.

On the occasion, Ms. Shabari emphasised the need for improved hygiene at the centres and highlighted the pivotal role they play in preparing children for formal schooling. She urged parents to utilise the facilities provided by the government for their children’s health and educational development, and appealed to them to send their children to anganwadi centres regularly to ensure their healthy physical and mental growth.

The MP said the government regularly provides milk, eggs, and highly nutritious food to young children through anganwadi centres. She said efforts would be made to foster children’s mental and physical development as well as the skills necessary for primary education through games, songs, and early learning activities.

Earlier in the day, Ms. Shabari, along with Collector Rajakumari Ganiya, participated in the ‘Swarna Andhra - Swachha Andhra’ programme in Nandyal town.

During her visit, Ms. Shabari expressed displeasure over the lack of cleanliness in front of Nandyal railway station. She directed the officials to improve the sanitation facilities and warned that she would visit the site and inspect the situation within a week.

She also participated in sanitation drives held at the railway station premises, main streets, and public areas in Nandyal town. Ms. Shabari and Ms. Rajakumari Ganiya swept the roads and actively participated in the cleanliness drive.

Speaking on the occasion, Ms. Shabari said that the ‘Swarna Andhra - Swachha Andhra’ programme launched in January last year, was continuing uninterruptedly across the district. She emphasised that the participation of every citizen was crucial in creating a clean environment.

Meanwhile, Ms. Rajakumari Ganiya said that under the ‘Operation Clean Sweep’ initiative conducted in Nandyal municipality over the past four weeks, accumulated legacy waste was being completely removed. “Waste is being segregated and transported to composting units and biodigester plants to be converted into organic fertilizer,” she said.

She appealed to the public to completely stop using plastic, refrain from littering on the roads, and make cleanliness an integral part of their lifestyle. Nandyal Municipal Commissioner Bandi Seshanna, Central Food Corporation Director Narahari Viswanath Reddy, and others also participated.
