Private firm employee alleges phone hack after intimate v...
The Hindu Bureau · 2026-06-20 · via The Hindu: Latest News today from India and the World, Breaking news, Top Headlines and Trending News Videos.

The East Division Cyber Crime Police have registered an FIR against unknown persons after a 28-year-old private firm employee alleged that his mobile phone was hacked and his private videos and photographs with a female friend were uploaded to multiple pornographic websites without his consent.

According to the complaint, the victim discovered on June 13, 2026, that intimate videos and photographs involving him and his partner had been uploaded to pornographic websites. He found the content on websites which allegedly served as indexing platforms that redirected users to other websites hosting the videos.

The complainant stated that he immediately contacted the administrators of the two websites and requested the removal of the content. Following his complaint, the videos were reportedly taken down from those platforms.

However, on June 15, he allegedly discovered another website carrying the same content. He believes that site may be the original source from which the videos were subsequently archived and indexed across multiple websites, complete with download links.

The victim told police that he is unaware of how the private content was leaked, but suspects that his mobile phone may have been compromised, as it had been malfunctioning and behaving abnormally for several weeks prior to the incident.

In his complaint, he requested police intervention to ensure the immediate removal of the videos from all online servers and to prevent further circulation of the allegedly stolen and illegally uploaded personal content.

The complainant stated that the incident has caused severe emotional distress and has adversely affected his personal and professional life. Based on the complaint, the East Division Cyber Crime Police have registered a case against unidentified persons under Sections 67, 66, 66(E) and 43 of the Information Technology Act, 2000. Police have begun an investigation to trace the source of the leak, identify those responsible for uploading the content and facilitate its removal from online platforms.
